Job summary

Hutchies is seeking an experienced Tower Crane Operator and Intermediate Rigger for our Coffs Harbour project, commencing April 2026 and paid under EBA rates. Join our down-to-earth team and benefit from a supportive environment and diverse learning opportunities.

As part of Hutchies, you’ll work with doggers, riggers, and site supervisors to ensure safe lifts, conduct pre-start checks, and maintain crane operations in line with safety plans. A collaborative, inclusive culture awaits you on site.

Qualifications

• Relevant licenses and qualifications in the respective field for this role.
• Experience in precast concrete panel installations.
• 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role.
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Professional written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Safely operating the tower crane in accordance with site requirements and safety regulations.
• Working closely with doggers, riggers, and site supervisors to ensure efficient and safe lifting operations.
• Conducting pre-start checks, inspections, and routine maintenance of the crane.
• Ensuring all lifts are carried out in line with lift plans and Work Method Statements.
• Maintaining clear communication with the ground crew via radio or hand signals.
• Reporting any hazards, defects, or incidents promptly.
• Assisting with general site duties when required and safe to do so.
• Contributing to a safe, productive, and positive work environment.
• As an Intermediate Rigger & Dogman, responsibilities include:
• Safely slinging and securing loads for crane operations.
• Directing and guiding the crane operator using hand signals or radio communication.
• Ensuring all lifting operations comply with safety regulations and site procedures.
• Inspecting lifting gear and reporting any defects or hazards.
• Assisting with movement, placement, and positioning of materials on-site.
• Maintaining clear communication with site supervisors, crane operators, and other workers.
• Monitoring site conditions to ensure safe lifting environments.
• Supporting general site operations when not engaged in dogging duties.
• Following all Work Method Statements and completing required permits.
• Contributing to a safe and efficient worksite through proactive hazard identification.

To be successful in this role, you should have:
