Job summary

Telstra Threat Labs in Canberra seeks a Specialist to own and evolve a Threat Labs capability supporting security operations, threat research, incident response, and Cleaner Pipes activities.

You will work across Linux systems, virtualization, distributed platforms, storage, automation, and secure networking, partnering with internal teams, vendors, and global security communities.

Qualifications

• Experience administering Linux systems in an enterprise or service-provider environment.
• Proficiency in Linux operating systems, virtualization, orchestration, automation, distributed systems, and storage.
• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and root cause analysis across hardware, software and networks.
• Scripting experience in at least one language, with ability to understand and debug scripts.
• Understanding of big data concepts and tools, especially for large security data processing.

Responsibilities

• Develop, support, and maintain the Threat Labs environment, services, and systems.
• Monitor system availability, functionality, and performance; troubleshoot hardware, software, network issues.
• Perform routine maintenance, patch management, and root cause analysis for reliable Threat Labs services.
• Administer user accounts, permissions, access controls, and secure remote access for Threat Labs users.
• Engage vendors and technical partners to support platforms, services, and project delivery.
• Provide technical support to teams using Threat Labs services during security incidents and investigations.
• Develop, maintain, and improve documentation for repeatable Threat Labs operations.
• Contribute to Threat Labs operations, projects, and Cleaner Pipes work.
