Job summary

Hydro Tasmania is seeking a Power Station Operator at the Tamar Valley to manage safe and efficient operations of generation assets. This role includes responsibilities such as optimizing gas turbine systems, performing maintenance, and mentoring team members on a 24/7 roster.

Qualifications

  • Experience in thermal power generation and gas turbine operations.
  • Turbine and boiler operator competency, including HV switching and generator control.
  • Certificate IV ESI (Generation) required.
  • Confined space, gas testing, first aid and LV rescue certification required.
  • Trade qualification in electrical, instrumentation or mechanical fields is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and optimise CCGT, OCGT, HRSG, WTP and steam turbine systems.
  • Maintain safe and reliable plant operations on a rotating 24/7 roster.
  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on critical assets.
  • Diagnose faults and implement effective technical solutions.
  • Coordinate contractors and monitor WHS compliance.
  • Prepare operational logs, reports and technical documentation.
  • Support and mentor team members to strengthen operational capability.
