Job summary

Life Without Barriers is seeking a Therapeutic Youth Worker to support young people aged 12 to 17 who have experienced trauma, in residential homes across multiple NSW locations.

Roles include rostered shifts (afternoon, sleepover, weekends) and may involve personal care. A Diploma in Community Services or equivalent is preferred, with First Aid and driver's license required. The team focuses on safe, homelike environments and positive development.

• Provide First Aid certification is required (HLTAID011).
• Experience supporting children/young people and understanding trauma is preferred.

Therapeutic Youth Worker

Bradbury, Bronte, Croydon, Glenwood, Homebush, Riverwood, Toongabbie, Prestons.

As a Therapeutic Youth Worker, you’ll be a key support for young people aged 12 to 17 years who’ve experienced childhood trauma, abuse, or neglect. Some of the children and young people we care for may also have a disability or complex medical needs requiring specialised support, including personal care.

You will be part of a dedicated to team working to ensuring a safe, homelike environment where these young people can thrive, supporting them to learn independent life skills, develop problem solving skills and to build appropriate and positive relationships with others.

Our residential homes operate 24/7, therefore it is essential that successful applicants are able and willing to work a roster which regularly includes afternoon, sleepover and weekend shifts. We will not be able to consider applicants who cannot fulfil this requirement.

Role Requirements:

• Hold or be actively completing a Diploma in Community Services or related field (or higher) OR hold relevant experience and complete Diploma qualification offered by LWB and willing to be employed on a permanent basis.

(Please note: a qualification is desirable but not essential for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander applicants with relevant experience)

• A current Provide First Aid (HLTAID011) certificate
• A current driver’s licence
• Experience supporting children and young people who have experienced childhood trauma, have a disability and/or exhibit pain-based behaviours of concern (ideally within a residential care setting)
• An understanding of the importance of family/kinship connections to children and young people in placement
• Willingness to assist with activities of daily living, including personal care (if required).
• Able to work a roster pattern that includes shifts across afternoon, overnight (including sleepover) and weekends
