Job description

Organisation/Entity: Transport For NSW

Job category: Projects

Job location:

Macquarie Park, NSW, AU, 2113

Job reference number: 110482

Employment type: Fixed Term Full-Time

Salary range: $141678.0-$158677.0

You see the big picture, you’ve always worked on a grand scale, and now you’re ready to re-focus on grand impact. Your innovative mindset is key to creating solutions to complex problems. Our systems drive our organisational success and underpin every journey our customers take. This is your opportunity to be part of an expert team who build and refine seamless technology experiences.

In this role, you will:

Play a key role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our solutions across the testing lifecycle. Your primary focus will be on executing manual and automated testing activities, including functional, integration, regression, system, and field testing, while managing defects and supporting quality outcomes. You will be responsible for analysing business and technical requirements, developing test strategies, designing test scenarios and test cases, and preparing test data to ensure comprehensive coverage.

In partnership with vendors and internal stakeholders, you will provide test governance, communicate progress through regular status reporting, and deliver insights on risks, defects, and test metrics. You will also contribute to automation and continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to increase test efficiency, developing or maintaining automation scripts, enhancing test coverage, and sharing best practices across the team. Additionally, you will support test environments, release validation, production verification, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) activities to help deliver high-quality solutions into production.

About You:
  • Experienced testing professional with approximately 10+ years of software testing experience, including around 3 years in a Lead Test Engineer capacity. We're seeking someone who enjoys being ‘hands-on’, actively involved in test planning, execution, automation, and quality assurance activities. We believe this role would be ideal for a Lead Test Engineer looking to further develop their leadership skills
  • ISTQB Foundation Level certification or higher, or equivalent industry recognised testing qualification
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new transformational technologies and concepts, with a proactive, results driven approach, strong commitment to quality outcomes, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment
Nice to Haves:
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with external testing or technology vendors, fostering effective working relationships and successful delivery outcomes
  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline

This is a fixed-term opportunity through to 31 July 2029. The role operates within a hybrid working model, with approximately 50% of time spent in the office to support collaboration and stakeholder engagement. You will typically work from our Macquarie Park, Parramatta and/or CBD offices for around ten days per month. Given the nature of the ONG project, the role will also involve periodic field-based activities.

This is a Grade 8 role, paying between $141,678.00 - $158,677.00 + super. The grade level will be assessed based on your relevant skills, experiences, capabilities, and qualifications etc.
