Overview

Join to apply for the Terminal Operator role at Viterra Australia.

Join Bunge’s team based at Port Adelaide as an operator and play a vital role in our supply chain.

About the Role

We’re looking for safety-conscious, skilled operators to join the team at Bunge’s Port Adelaide terminal. Roles involve hands-on work in grain storage, logistics, and export operations. You’ll operate a range of machinery and equipment critical to grain handling, quality, and movement. Some positions may include authorised officer responsibilities to support inspection and compliance processes for grain exports. Some roles involve working in the control room where basic computer skills are essential.

At Bunge, through our Skill-Based Career Path, the more skills and qualifications you bring or develop, the greater your earning potential and opportunities for advancement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate equipment: Safely and efficiently operate machinery such as forklifts, front-end loaders, and other equipment used for loading and unloading grain trucks.
  • Ensure grain quality: Conduct grain classification and quality control procedures to maintain high product standards.
  • Support export operations: Assist with bulk grain outturning, including ship loading, container packing, and coordination of road transport logistics.
  • Work in the control room: Monitor and manage grain movement and site activities using basic computer systems to ensure smooth and accurate operations.
  • Perform Authorised Officer duties: Undertake inspection, sampling, and documentation tasks to ensure grain meets required export standards and compliance protocols.
  • Maintain storage facilities: Ensure bunkers, silos, and storage areas are clean, well-organised, and meet hygiene and safety requirements.
  • Lead and support teams: Provide guidance and on-the-job support to seasonal workers during peak periods, contributing to a safe and efficient team environment.
  • Monitor infrastructure: Check the condition of tarps, bunkers, and other storage infrastructure to support ongoing operational readiness.
  • Carry out general maintenance: Assist with routine equipment upkeep, pest control, and site hygiene tasks to support overall terminal efficiency.
About You
  • Team Player: You thrive working collaboratively and enjoy tackling new challenges together.
  • Strong Communicator: You have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, able to clearly and effectively communicate with your team and stakeholders.
  • Leadership Potential: You demonstrate leadership qualities and have experience motivating and supporting others to achieve team goals.
  • Relevant Experience: Previous experience in grain handling or a similar operational role is preferred but not essential—we value your willingness to learn and grow.
  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with commodity classification is a bonus but not required.
  • Valid Driver’s Licence: A current driver’s licence is essential for this role.
  • Safety Champion: You are committed to maintaining a safe workplace, consistently following safety procedures, and encouraging others to do the same.
