Job summary

Tech Wave Communications is seeking a Telecommunications Technician and Rigger to install, test, and maintain telecommunications systems across Australia’s leading networks. You will work on 4G/5G sites, read site drawings, set up RF gear, and ensure safety compliance. This full-time role offers a company vehicle and travel expense coverage. Minimum 1 year in a similar role preferred; ACMA cabling registration or White Card may be required.

Qualifications

• Experience in mobile telecommunications / RAN installation and upgrade works.
• Experience working on 4G/5G mobile sites, preferably Telstra or other major carrier networks.
• Ability to read and interpret site drawings, RF designs and method statements.
• Knowledge of safety, WHS and working at heights requirements.

About the Role As a Telecommunications Technician and Rigger, you will be responsible for Installing, Maintaining, Testing and Repairing Telecommunications systems and equipment. You will be working on Australia's leading network Telstra, TPG, Optus and NBN for all upgrade and maintenance projects.

Qualification & experience Skills & Experience The successful candidate will ideally have: Experience in mobile telecommunications / RAN installation and upgrade works Experience working on 4G/5G mobile sites, preferably Telstra or other major carrier networks Installation, replacement and commissioning of: 5G radio units / RRUs Antennas and antenna mounts Baseband and radio equipment Fibre optic and Ethernet connections DC power and associated equipment Feeder/coaxial cabling where applicable Fibre optic installation, termination and testing Fibre fault finding and troubleshooting RF cable/connector installation and testing Ability to read and interpret site drawings, RF designs, installation drawings and method statements Understanding of antenna azimuth, tilt and sector configuration Equipment labelling, cable dressing and site housekeeping Use of test equipment such as: Optical power meter 2. OTDR 3. Multimeter 4.

Cable/continuity tester 5. RF test equipment as required Ability to complete installation, testing, commissioning and quality documentation Fault finding and rectification skills Australian qualifications / compliance Relevant telecommunications qualification, such as Certificate III in Telecommunications Technology, is highly desirable. Appropriate ACMA cabling registration where the work constitutes regulated customer cabling.

ACMA states that regulated cabling work must be performed by, or under the supervision of, an appropriately registered cabler. A White Card Current Australian driver's licence Working at Heights certification where required by the role/site

First Aid/CPR desirable EWP/MEWP licence or verification where required Traffic management qualifications where the project requires roadside work. Telecommunications Rigger – Skills Required Tower and rooftop skills Proven experience as a Telecommunications rigger Experience working on: Monopoles Lattice towers Rooftop telecommunications sites Masts and poles Antenna structures Installation, removal and replacement of: 4G/5G antennas RRUs/RRHs Mounting brackets Antenna feeders Fibre optic cables GPS/GNSS antennas Cable trays and support systems Safe climbing and positioning on telecommunications structures Working at heights and fall-arrest systems Rigging, lifting and lowering telecommunications equipment Understanding of SWL/WLL, lifting points and appropriate rigging equipment Basic understanding of tower loading and antenna/mounting requirements Ability to follow lifting plans and site-specific SWMS

Good understanding of exclusion zones and dropped-object prevention Ability to work safely around live telecommunications equipment and other site hazards Rigger competencies A strong candidate should be comfortable with: Harness and fall-arrest equipment Rope systems Rescue systems Slings, shackles and lifting equipment Tag lines Mechanical lifting equipment Gin poles / davits where applicable Manual handling of antennas and radio equipment Tool lanyards and dropped-object prevention Working around cranes/EWPs when applicable
