Job summary

  • Experience with telecommunications or networking projects is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

  • Design, document and deliver telecommunications data networking projects to agreed standards and performance requirements.
  • Provide specialist technical advice and engineering support across telecommunications and network systems.
  • Investigate faults and service requests, identifying and implementing effective technical solutions.
  • Manage and enhance network monitoring systems to improve visibility, reliability and performance.
  • Develop and maintain engineering standards, performance measures and technical documentation.
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing and technical training while staying current with emerging technologies and industry best practice.

We're offering an opportunity to join our Telecommunications Systems Engineering team as a Telecommunications Engineer – Data Networking, where you'll help shape and support the critical communications infrastructure that keeps Queensland's rail network moving.

About the Team

The Telecommunications Systems Engineering team provides specialist engineering expertise to support Queensland Rail's telecommunications and data networking environment. The team is responsible for delivering innovative, reliable and future-focused solutions that underpin operational performance and connectivity across the rail network.

Purpose That Counts – Some of the responsibilities of the role
  • Design, document and deliver telecommunications data networking projects to agreed standards and performance requirements.
  • Provide specialist technical advice and engineering support across telecommunications and network systems.

We're looking for someone who brings strong technical capability, a passion for engineering excellence and the ability to deliver reliable networking solutions in a complex operational environment. You’ll also demonstrate:

  • Experience designing and implementing data networking solutions in a complex operational environment.
  • Strong knowledge of IP networking, telecommunications technologies and associated engineering principles.
  • Experience delivering telecommunications or networking projects through the full project lifecycle.
  • Proven troubleshooting and fault-finding capability across network environments.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously while contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment.

Additional Information

Whilst this role is predominantly performed across a 38-hour working week based in Brisbane CBD.

Participation in an on-call roster, overtime and occasional travel throughout Queensland will be required to support project and operational activities. Overtime and travel will attract the generous benefits available under Queensland Rail's Enterprise Agreement.
