Beyond Comms is a growing family-owned electrical and telecommunications business and we’re seeking a motivated Telecommunications Technician to join our team in Melbourne. You will install, maintain and fault-find telecommunications and network infrastructure across diverse commercial projects.

The role covers structured cabling, fibre optics, wireless access points and security systems, with opportunities to grow your skills within a supportive, customer-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Experience as Telecommunications Technician or Data Cabler.
• Structured cabling installations and terminations.
• Knowledge of fibre optic infrastructure (advantageous).
• Experience with network cabinets, switches, patch panels and wireless access points.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Commitment to quality workmanship and safety.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Telecommunications qualifications and Open Registration preferred.

Responsibilities

• Install, terminate and test structured cabling (Cat 6 and Cat 6A).
• Fibre optic installation, termination, testing and fault-finding.
• Installation and commissioning of wireless access points and network infrastructure.
• Communications cabinet installations, rack-and-stack and patching.
• Installation and maintenance of telecommunications infrastructure.
• Fault-finding and rectification of network and communications issues.
• Installation of CCTV, access control and associated security infrastructure.
• Nurse Call Cabling Installations.

Job description

Working across a variety of commercial and telecommunications projects throughout Melbourne and occasionally interstate, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining and fault-finding telecommunications and network infrastructure. With opportunities to work across projects ranging from structured cabling and fibre optics through to wireless networks, communications infrastructure and technology upgrades.

Key responsibilities

Installation, termination and testing of structured cabling (Cat 6 and Cat 6A)

Fibre optic installation, termination, testing and fault-finding

Installation and commissioning of wireless access points and network infrastructure

Communications cabinet installations, rack-and-stack and patching

Installation and maintenance of telecommunications infrastructure

Fault-finding and rectification of network and communications issues

Installation of CCTV, access control and associated security infrastructure

Nurse Call Cabling Installations

About you

Previous experience as a Telecommunications Technician or Data Cabler

Experience with structured cabling installations and terminations

Knowledge of fibre optic infrastructure (advantageous)

Experience with network cabinets, switches, patch panels and wireless access points

Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills

The ability to work independently and as part of a team

A strong commitment to quality workmanship and safety

Relevant telecommunications qualifications and Open Registration (preferred)
