Job summary

Pivotel is seeking an experienced Telecommunications Regulatory Compliance Officer to ensure we meet regulatory obligations and embed compliance across the business. You’ll guide practical compliance across Operations, Legal, Engineering, Cybersecurity and Executive teams.

You’ll act as a primary liaison with regulators such as ACMA, manage risk, and develop robust processes while delivering training and awareness across the organisation.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years' experience in telecommunications regulation, compliance, governance, risk or regulatory affairs.
• Experience interpreting legislation and implementing compliance programs.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with stakeholders at all levels.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and interpret changes to telecommunications legislation, regulations, industry codes and licence conditions.
• Develop and maintain compliance frameworks, policies, procedures, controls and monitoring programs.
• Maintain compliance registers and support regulatory reporting.
• Conduct reviews, risk assessments and gap analyses; assist remediation of breaches.
• Manage regulatory submissions, reporting, notifications and declarations.
• Act as liaison with ACMA, including audits and information requests.
• Provide regulatory advice across projects, product launches and deployments.
• Deliver compliance training and awareness across the business.

Telecommunications Regulatory Compliance Officer

About the role

Pivotel is looking for an experienced Telecommunications Regulatory Compliance Officer to join our team.

This is a key role responsible for ensuring Pivotel meets its telecommunications and regulatory obligations, providing practical compliance guidance across the business and identifying and managing regulatory risk.

Working closely with Operations, Legal, Engineering, Cybersecurity, Customer Service and our Executive team, you’ll help ensure regulatory requirements are understood and embedded into our day-to-day operations, projects and business practices. You’ll also be a key point of contact for regulatory matters and manage relationships with regulators, including ACMA.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and interpret changes to telecommunications legislation, regulations, industry codes, standards and licence conditions, and communicate what they mean for the business.
• Develop and maintain compliance frameworks, policies, procedures, controls and monitoring programs.
• Maintain compliance and obligations registers and support regulatory reporting.
• Conduct compliance reviews, risk assessments and gap analyses, and support the investigation and remediation of potential breaches.
• Manage regulatory submissions, statutory reporting, notifications and compliance declarations.
• Act as a key liaison with ACMA, including responding to audits, information requests and compliance reviews.
• Support compliance across areas including the TCP Code, privacy, cybersecurity, carrier licensing, radiocommunications, spectrum management and consumer protection.
• Provide regulatory advice and support across projects, product launches, network deployments and other business initiatives.
• Deliver compliance awareness and regulatory training across the business.
• Prepare compliance reporting and presentations for management, the Executive and Board committees.

What you'll bring to this role

You’ll have strong experience in telecommunications regulation, compliance, legal, governance, risk or regulatory affairs, along with the ability to interpret complex regulatory requirements and turn them into practical advice for the business.

Ideally, you’ll bring:

• A degree in Law, Business, Public Policy, Telecommunications, Engineering, Compliance, Risk Management or a related discipline.
• Around 3–5 years' experience in telecommunications regulation, compliance, legal, governance, risk or regulatory affairs.
• Experience interpreting legislation and implementing compliance programs.
• Experience preparing regulatory submissions and dealing directly with regulators.
• A strong understanding of Australian telecommunications regulation and ACMA requirements.
• Strong analytical, investigation and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to work with stakeholders at all levels.
• The ability to manage competing priorities and work through complex or sensitive regulatory matters.
• A practical, solutions-focused approach with strong attention to detail.
