Job summary

Precision Geotechnical Services (PGS), part of PTG Group, is a specialist geotechnical testing provider in Queensland. You’ll work alongside engineers and technicians across infrastructure, mining and energy projects, gaining exposure to advanced testing methods.

We welcome applications from candidates with a Certificate 3 in Construction Materials Testing or those eager to learn; prior soil testing experience is not required.

Qualifications

• Good communication and teamwork are essential.
• Ability to prioritise and solve problems in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to learn and grow within geotechnical testing.
• Experience with soil testing is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Undertake laboratory testing across a broad range of methods in line with Australian Standards.
• Complete laboratory testing at the required production level.
• Undertake training in test methods and procedures.
• Follow instructions from the Laboratory Manager and maintain safety practices.
• Prepare worksheets and verify measurements and calculations of test results.

Key Responsibilities:

• Undertake laboratory testing across a broad range of methods, including but not limited to Australian Standards
• Complete laboratory testing at the required production level
• Undertake training in test methods
• Follow procedures directed by the Laboratory Manager
• Prepare worksheets checking measurements and calculations of test results of other technicians
• Maintain, clean and test equipment while keeping work area tidy
• Liaise with internal staff and clients

About You:

• You will be self-motivated, a fast learner and bring a positive attitude to the team. We are ideally looking for technicians who possess:
• Good knowledge of Microsoft office Suite (Outlook, Word and Excel)
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• The ability to work under pressure, show initiative, prioritise and schedule work
• The ability to be a team player and work unsupervised
• Previous experience as a Soil Technician will be highly regarded

Qualifications

• Certificate 3 in Construction Materials Testing (preferable)or willing to acquire
