Job summary

AngloGold Ashanti is seeking a Metallurgy Technician for Sunrise Dam Gold Mine. The role focuses on sample analysis, quality control, and process improvements within a strict safety and environmental framework.

This full-time position operates on a FIFO roster, with flights from Perth and Kalgoorlie. You will perform sampling, lab testing, data reporting, and support gold room duties while maintaining equipment and adhering to procedures.

Qualifications

• Experience in Gold Processing or Metallurgical Labs is highly desirable.
• Basic computer skills.
• Enthusiasm to learn and good interpersonal skills.
• Flexibility and initiative.
• Current WA Manual Driver’s License.
• Ability to obtain National Police Clearance.
• Permanent work rights in Australia (Mandatory).

Responsibilities

• Sampling duties and laboratory test work including sample preparation and analysis.
• Ensure testing procedures follow established protocols for reliable results.
• Maintain laboratory and plant equipment to ensure continuous operation.
• Coordinate data collection, information and reporting for the Metallurgy Work Group.
• Perform routine and adhoc plant sampling for surveys and process improvement.
• Assist with routine gold room duties such as cleaning electrowinning cells and smelting.

Job description

We are seeking a Metallurgy Technician to join our laboratory processing team at our Sunrise Dam Gold Mine, supporting the processing and extraction of gold by conducting sample analysis, ensuring quality control, and contributing to process improvements while adhering to safety and environmental standards.

This role is a fulltime permanent position on a 8/6 FIFO roster and accountable to the Senior Production Metallurgist.

We operate direct flights to our sites from Perth and Kalgoorlie.

About the role

• Responsible for sampling duties and laboratory test work including sample preparation and analysis.
• Ensuring that all testing procedures are carried out according to established protocols and standards, and that results are reliable and reproducible.
• Maintaining laboratory and plant equipment/instrumentation to ensure continuous and accurate operation.
• Coordinate the collection of data, information, and reporting for the Metallurgy Work Group.
• Routine and adhoc plant sampling for surveys and process improvement work.
• Assist with routine gold room duties such as cleaning electrowinning cells and smelting.
