Workplace Type: Onsite

Newmont produces metals the world needs - safely, responsibly and with care for people, communities and the environment. With a 100+ year history, we continue to shape the future of mining through innovation and strong operational performance. By joining our inclusive, world-class team, you can help shape the future of mining and make a meaningful difference.

Cadia is a major gold and copper mining operation in central New South Wales, about 25 kilometres from the city of Orange and 250 kilometres west of Sydney. The site is known for the Cadia East underground mine – one of the world’s largest gold deposits – which uses innovative block caving methods to produce gold doré and gold-rich copper concentrate. Unlike remote mines, Cadia is a residential (drive-in, drive-out) operation where many employees live with their families in nearby communities, enjoying the Orange region’s excellent lifestyle and amenities.

Cadia’s team has a collaborative culture built around safety, innovation and community partnership. We proudly support local towns through jobs and in‑kind contributions and even run an Indigenous Buddy Programme to welcome and mentor new Indigenous employees. Working at Cadia gives you all the growth opportunities of a Tier‑1 mine within a friendly regional setting – a place where you can advance your skills, be home with family, and contribute to both Newmont’s success and the prosperity of local communities.

As a Technician, Environment, you'll play a hands‑on role in delivering environmental activities across Newmont's Cadia operation. This is a predominantly field‑based position suited to a motivated environmental professional who enjoys being out on site and working closely with contractors and operational teams.

With a focus on rehabilitation, biodiversity, environmental monitoring and environmental projects, you'll support the delivery of field programs, coordinate contractor activities, collect and maintain high‑quality environmental data, and contribute to safe, compliant and sustainable environmental outcomes across the operation.

As Part of Our Team, You Will
  • Support the delivery of rehabilitation, biodiversity and broader environmental projects and programs.
  • Coordinate and oversee environmental contractors, helping ensure activities are completed safely, effectively and in line with site requirements.
  • Undertake field‑based environmental monitoring, inspections, sampling and data collection across operational and rehabilitation areas as required.
  • Assist with rehabilitation planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting.
  • Maintain equipment and support accurate environmental data, records and reporting.
  • Identify environmental risks and opportunities for improvement while promoting safe and environmentally responsible work practices.
  • Work collaboratively with the Environment team, contractors and operational stakeholders across site.
Prerequisites for Success in This Role
  • Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Ecology, Natural Resource Management, land management, Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Some practical experience or exposure to environmental projects, ideally involving rehabilitation, biodiversity, environmental monitoring or land management.
  • A genuine interest in working in a predominantly field‑based role within an operational environment.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to coordinate contractors and work effectively with a range of stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accurate environmental data and record keeping.
  • Willingness to undertake regular fieldwork across the operation.
