Job summary

Newmont Cadia operations in Orange, NSW, are seeking Mechanical Technicians for the Surface Fixed Plant Maintenance Team. You will assist with preventative and breakdown maintenance across crushers, conveyors, mills and related equipment, emphasizing safety and reliability.

The role is a permanent residential position in Orange on a 7/7 DDDN roster, requiring a recognised mechanical trade qualification and a current manual driver’s license. SAP experience is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Recognised trade qualification as Mechanical Fitter, Fitter & Turner, Mechanical Tradesperson or Boilermaker.
• Experience in fixed plant and/or mining is highly desirable.
• Current manual Driver’s Licence; safety and risk awareness.

Your Impact

We are now seeking Mechanical Technicians to join the Surface Fixed Plant Maintenance Team.

Whether you’re already working in mining, heavy industry, manufacturing, processing plants, power generation, or other industrial maintenance environments, this is an opportunity to develop your skills on some of the most diverse and complex fixed plant equipment in the industry.

Reporting to Supervisor - Surface Fixed Plant, you will be responsible for assisting with preventative and breakdown maintenance of all Surface Fixed Plant equipment, including in general plant maintenance, shutdowns, fault‑finding, and project work.

As Part Of Our Team, You Will

• Perform maintenance on crushers, conveyor systems, grinding mills, gravity circuits, vibrating screens, dewatering systems, dust collectors, ventilation systems, chilling plants, pumps and more.
• Monitor equipment condition and identify opportunities for improvement
• Support shutdown planning and execution activities
• Work collaboratively with operations and maintenance teams to achieve safe and productive outcomes

Prerequisites for Success in This Role

• A recognised trade qualification as a Mechanical Fitter, Fitter & Turner, Mechanical Tradesperson, or Boilermaker
• Experience in fixed plant and/or mining is highly desirable
• Experience on various types of pumps, valves, pneumatic and hydraulics
• A strong commitment to safety and risk management
• Current manual Driver’s Licence
• Basic computer skills and experience with SAP or similar system would be advantageous
