IAG in Christchurch seeks an experienced property claims professional to manage complex claims end-to-end, including assessments, coverage decisions and settlements.

You will provide technical guidance to assessors, support incident response during major events, and collaborate with contractors and internal experts to deliver fair customer outcomes. The role emphasizes coaching, governance and continuous improvement within a dynamic environment.

• Proven experience managing complex property claims within insurance.
• Strong ability to assess complex building and claim scenarios and make timely decisions.

Do

• Manage complex property claims from assessment through to settlement, including coverage decisions, damage scoping, repair reviews and stakeholder communication.
• Provide technical guidance and support to property assessors, helping resolve challenging claims and uplift capability across the broader team
• Respond to significant claim events as part of the on the ground assessing team, supporting customers during times of disruption and uncertainty
• Collaborate with consultants, contractors and internal specialists to progress claims, resolve issues and achieve fair customer outcomes.
• Identify risks, opportunities and process improvements that enhance claim quality, operational performance and customer experience
• Deliver coaching, technical advice and training that supports capability development across assessing and claims teams

You'll Bring

• Extensive experience of building repairs, damage assessment, construction methodologies, and reinstatement costs.
• Proven experiencce in managing complex property claims within insurance, assessing and claims management environments.
• Strong ability to assess complex building and claim scenarios, analyse information, and make sound, timely decisions under pressure.
• Confident building relationships with internal teams, suppliers, contractors, trades, and industry experts to achieve the best outcomes.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate technical information into clear, practical guidance for a range of audiences.
• Experienced in supporting customers through challenging situations with empathy, professionalism, and care.
• Collaborative and continuous improvement focused, with a passion for sharing knowledge, mentoring others, and enhancing ways of working.
