The Opportunity

Red Appointments is recruiting a Technical Sales Engineer to join the growing Australian operation of a major global technology manufacturer.

Based near Epping in Melbourne's northern suburbs

this is an exciting opportunity for someone with experience across telecommunications, fibre optics, data centres, or network infrastructure who enjoys combining technical problem-solving with sales and customer engagement.

Joining at an early stage of the Australian operation's growth, you will have the opportunity to develop new customers, build strong relationships, and help grow the company's presence in the Australian market.

The Role

You will:

• Identify and develop new business opportunities
• Build relationships with customers, partners, and key stakeholders
• Understand customer requirements and recommend appropriate technical solutions
• Provide pre-sales technical advice, presentations, and product demonstrations
• Prepare quotations, proposals, and tenders
• Manage opportunities from initial enquiry through to close
• Provide ongoing technical and post‑sales customer support
• Work closely with Australian and international technical teams

Regular interstate and occasional international travel will be required.

About You

We are looking for someone with:

• A degree in Engineering, Computer Science, ICT, or a related technical discipline
• Experience in technical sales, sales engineering, solutions, applications, or business development
• Knowledge of telecommunications, fibre optics, data centres, ICT, or network infrastructure
• Strong technical problem‑solving capability
• Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship‑building skills
• A proactive and commercially minded approach
• Australian citizenship or permanent residency with unrestricted working rights

Experience with optical communications, fibre cabling, data‑centre interconnects, structured cabling, network connectivity, connectors, racks, or panels will be highly regarded.
