Full time, Permanent

Are you a technically minded project leader who can bring people, processes and technology together to deliver successful projects?

Our client is a data-driven digital services company that designs and delivers systems to automate business processes, improve customer engagement and maximise ROI. They take pride in building solutions that work, accurate, reliable, practical and easy to support.

They are looking for an experienced Technical Project Manager who can confidently lead project delivery, manage technical teams and bridge the gap between business stakeholders and developers.

This is an opportunity for someone who understands how software and data-driven systems work, can communicate effectively with technical specialists, and knows how to turn business requirements into clear plans and successful outcomes.

About the role

You’ll take ownership of the full project lifecycle, from discovery and requirements gathering through development, testing, deployment and post-launch support.

Working closely with clients, project/account management and technical specialists, you’ll ensure projects are well planned, teams are aligned, risks are managed and solutions meet business requirements.

We’re looking for someone who can speak the language of both business and technology, someone who can engage in meaningful technical discussions, understand SQL and database concepts, ask the right questions and keep projects moving forward.

Key responsibilities
Project & Delivery Leadership
  • Lead end-to-end project delivery, including discovery, planning, development, testing, deployment and ongoing support.
  • Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, resources, risks and dependencies to ensure successful delivery.
  • Coordinate and lead developers and technical specialists, setting clear priorities and maintaining accountability.
  • Monitor progress, address delivery challenges and proactively resolve issues that could affect timelines or quality.
  • Drive continuous improvement across project delivery processes and solution quality.
Technical Understanding & Requirements
  • Work with clients and stakeholders to understand business needs, workflows, challenges and desired outcomes.
  • Translate business requirements into clear technical specifications, user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Collaborate with developers to discuss technical approaches, validate feasibility and clarify requirements before development.
  • Apply working knowledge of SQL and relational databases to understand data structures, queries, integrations and data flows
  • Bridge the gap between business terminology and technical language to ensure requirements are understood and implemented correctly.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients and internal stakeholders throughout project delivery.
  • Lead project meetings, planning sessions and stakeholder workshops, ensuring clear communication, actions and follow-up.
  • Communicate technical concepts, project updates, risks and issues clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Build strong working relationships across development, project management, account management and business teams.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations, competing priorities and changes in requirements while keeping delivery on track.
Testing, Documentation & Support
  • Coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT), defect triage, issue resolution and final sign-off.
  • Work with technical teams to validate fixes and ensure solutions meet agreed requirements.
  • Maintain clear project documentation, technical specifications, process maps and data-mapping records.
  • Oversee post-deployment support and identify opportunities to improve system reliability and maintainability.
Skills & experience
  • At least 3 years’ experience in Technical Project Management, Software Delivery, IT Project Management, Business Analysis with delivery ownership, or a similar role.
  • Proven experience delivering software-based, data-driven or digital projects from requirements through development, testing and deployment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and coordinate technical teams, including developers, manage priorities and drive delivery outcomes.
  • Solid working knowledge of SQL and relational databases, with the ability to understand technical discussions involving data structures, queries and data flows.
  • A good understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC), testing, deployment and ongoing support.
  • The ability to translate business needs into clear technical requirements and actionable delivery plans.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence engaging clients, developers and senior stakeholders.
  • Strong organisation, analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, risks and dependencies.
  • A proactive, accountable approach and the ability to drive projects through to completion.
Technical capabilities
  • Ability to query large datasets and design data models.
  • Hands-on experience with SQL and database schema design.
  • Experience working with development teams in structured SDLC environments.
  • Strong documentation skills, including requirements, process maps, technical briefs and project reporting
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint); Visio experience is desirable
  • Exposure to digital platforms, CRM systems, data integrations or business process automation.
  • Familiarity with APIs, system architecture or data transformation.
  • Experience in automotive, dealer network or related technology environments.
  • Qualifications in IT, Computer Science, Information Systems, Project Management or a related discipline.
The person we’re looking for

You’re a confident and collaborative leader who enjoys solving problems, bringing structure to complex projects and helping technical teams perform at their best.

You don’t need to be the person writing the code, but you do need to understand the technology well enough to ask informed questions, discuss solutions with developers and make sound delivery decisions.

You’re organised, commercially aware and comfortable managing expectations. You communicate clearly, take ownership of challenges and focus on delivering solutions that work in the real world.
