Job summary

vital.ly is seeking a Technical Product Manager to own internal platform capabilities powering warehouse operations, supplier tools and data flows. You’ll partner with Engineering, Design and Operations to translate complex workflows into clear requirements and measurable outcomes.

This hybrid Sydney role demands hands-on delivery from discovery to shipping, collaborating across teams to scale in a profitable growth business.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering complex tooling that supports critical business operations.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Experience writing clear, detailed use cases and flow documentation that engineering can build from without repeated clarification;
• Experience owning a product area end-to-end, from discovery and prioritisation through delivery and post-launch measurement;
• Experience working with technical integration concepts, including APIs, data feeds, synchronisation and reconciliation, at a level that enables the PM to specify requirements, evaluate trade-offs and test outcomes;
• Experience using AI, no-code or low-code tools for product discovery and prototyping, including AI-assisted prototyping to validate concepts;
• Experience working in a scale-up environment and building product processes and ways of working where they do not yet exist;
• Unrestricted and ongoing work rights in Australia.

Responsibilities

• Own quarterly product roadmap for internal tools spanning warehouse ops, inventory, pick/pack, orders, stock reconciliation, finance and internal teams.
• Run discovery with warehouse ops and internal teams to identify needs and opportunities.
• Prioritise a shared backlog across internal functions with differing needs.
• Define and monitor operational KPIs affected by product changes.
• Scope and deliver new system capabilities for internal teams including warehouse ops, finance, and product.
• Prioritise and specify capabilities, fixes and enhancements for internal tooling.
• Be escalation point for internal tooling issues.
• Own supplier-facing tools that give suppliers visibility into insights.
• Define and deliver supplier-facing capabilities that improve outcomes.
• Work with Commercial PM to identify problems solvable by product.

vital.ly is growing fast, and we've made a conscious choice to keep decision-making quick as we scale. This is a hands-on individual contributor role with end-to-end accountability for key product areas, from discovery through to shipped outcomes, and meaningful authority to make product decisions.

Who this role is for:

You are a technical product manager who wants to lead the development of platforms that power internal business operations. You can work fluently with Engineering on systems, integrations and data without needing to be the person writing the code;

You understand systems well enough to get into the detail. You can follow architecture and data flows, challenge assumptions, spot a fragile integration and test whether what has been built actually works;

You want to build on solid foundations while still having the opportunity to shape what comes next. The core infrastructure is in place, but there are new capabilities, workflows and integrations to build as vital.ly scales;

You like being close to the people using what you build. That could mean spending time on the warehouse floor, talking with suppliers or working directly with internal teams to understand how a system performs in the real world;

You care about outcomes people can actually see and measure, including operational reliability, adoption, supplier value and business impact. Shipping the feature is not the finish line;

You are comfortable making difficult trade-offs when different teams have competing needs. You can cut through the noise, make the call and explain why;

You have worked in a scaling business and know how to operate without the established processes and specialist support of a large enterprise. When the right product process does not exist, you can help build it;

You are hands-on across the full product cycle. You can move from discovery and prioritisation into detailed requirements, work closely with Design and Engineering through delivery, and stay with the product after launch;

You already use AI tools as part of your day-to-day work and are interested in where AI can create meaningful value in products and operations;

You want to remain a hands-on individual contributor, with meaningful decision-making authority and direct accountability for the outcomes of the product areas you lead.

THE RESPONSIBILITIES

Internal Platform Product Ownership

• Own the quarterly product roadmap for internal tools spanning warehouse operations, including inventory management, pick/pack workflows, order tracking and stock reconciliation, finance, product and other internal teams across the business;
• Run discovery with the warehouse operations team and other internal teams to identify needs and opportunities;
• Prioritise a shared backlog across internal functions with materially different needs;
• Define and monitor operational KPIs affected by product changes;
• Scope and deliver new system capabilities that support internal teams including warehouse operations, finance, and product;
• Prioritise and specify capabilities, fixes and enhancements for internal tooling;
• Be the escalation point for internal tooling issues;
• Own product areas for supplier-facing tools that give suppliers visibility into useful insights;
• Define and deliver supplier-facing capabilities that improve supplier and business outcomes;
• Work with the Commercial Product Manager to identify and address problems that can be solved through product;

Technical Delivery

• Write PRDs that engineering can build from, collaborating with design and internal teams to validate requirements;
• Document use cases with actual user/system context, including who’s doing what, why and under what conditions;
• Map end-to-end flows, including edge cases, error states and exception handling;
• Validate use cases and flows with actual internal users and suppliers before finalising requirements;
• Partner with engineering to validate API contracts, data formats and error-handling behaviour;
• Coordinate with external suppliers and vendors on integration requirements and timelines;
• Test integration behaviour against real third-party system conditions;
• Triage and prioritise the backlog across internal teams and suppliers;
• Own the delivery cadence with design and engineering for the managed product areas;
• Participate in architecture, API, and data-flow discussions early enough to influence product and technical decisions;
• Define expected outcomes and success metrics for each initiative before development starts;
• Report on how initiatives track against expected outcomes and success metrics post-launch.

Data, Systems Reliability and Reporting

• Define what data needs to be captured across warehouse operations, other internal teams and supplier-facing products;
• Turn operational data into product insights that inform planning and future iterations;
• Validate system data against actual operational outcomes;
• Ensure system and data changes are tested and validated before release, with rollback plans in place.

REQUIREMENTS

Must haves:

• Experience delivering complex tooling that supports critical business operations;
