Job description

Technical Operations Manager
Full-time Permanent

Details: The Canberra Theatre Centre is seeking an experienced and highly organised Technical Operations Manager to lead workforce planning and rostering, production coordination, and other technical operations to support the successful delivery of productions and events.

As Australia's first multi-venue performing arts centre, the Canberra Theatre Centre is the cultural heart of Canberra and the surrounding region, presenting a diverse program of world-class performance and entertainment. With a new 2,000-seat lyric theatre currently under construction, we are entering a transformative period of growth that will establish the Centre as a performing arts destination of national significance.

Working closely with the Technical Director, Production Managers, and Technical Heads of Department, you will play a key role in coordinating the people, resources, systems, and information required to support safe, efficient, and financially sustainable technical department operations.

You will support the planning, coordination, communication, and administration that underpin the delivery of productions and events, ensuring technical teams are well positioned to meet operational requirements and deliver exceptional outcomes for artists, hirers, and audiences.

The role also oversees workforce planning, labour utilisation, industrial compliance, operational systems, workforce capability and financial coordination to ensure safe, efficient and sustainable technical operations.

The successful applicant will contribute to workforce strategy, budgeting, reporting, WHS compliance, training coordination and continuous improvement initiatives across the Technical Department.

Eligibility/ Other Requirements: This role is ideal for a technical leader who enjoys bringing structure to complex environments, coordinating competing priorities, supporting technical teams and ensuring productions and events are delivered successfully.

Note: A merit pool may be established from this selection process and may be used to fill similar vacancies over the following 12 months.

Note: Under the ACTPS employment framework you may be placed in another role where required for the efficient administration of the service.

The ACT public service is committed to closing the gap, underpinned by the belief that when Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have a genuine say in the design and delivery of policies, programs and services that affect them, better life outcomes are achieved.
