Job summary

Heidelberg Materials Australia seeks a Technical Operations Manager to lead the NSW concrete laboratory network from Granville, with travel to Warabrook and Newcastle. You will drive governance, quality, safety, and service performance across laboratories.

Ideal candidates have engineering, science, or materials testing qualifications, NATA Signatory status, and a proven ability to lead specialist teams, manage budgets, and deliver continuous improvement in a national organisation.

Qualifications

• Hold qualifications in Engineering, Construction Materials Testing, Science, or a related discipline.
• NATA Signatory status and experience managing accredited laboratory operations highly regarded.

• Strong commercial acumen with budgets, resources and operational performance.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Granville and Warabrook laboratory operations, driving business performance through budgets, utilisation, testing revenue, costs and profitability.
• Provide strategic leadership and technical governance across the NSW laboratory network.
• Drive compliance with the NATA accreditation framework, standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Champion a strong safety culture, ensuring OH&S compliance and company policies.
• Lead, coach, and develop laboratory teams, fostering accountability and continuous improvement.
• Partner with Technical, Field Testing, Operational, and Sales teams to deliver exceptional customer outcomes.
• Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support growth and excellence.
• Oversee laboratory equipment management including maintenance, calibration, capital planning, and asset optimization.
• Identify opportunities to improve laboratory processes, efficiencies, and service delivery.
• Contribute to broader business initiatives and strategic planning.
