Job summary

Lower Murray Water is seeking a proactive planning and development professional within the Rural Services team. You will assess irrigation and drainage requirements for subdivisions and developments across the rural service area, supporting planning, statutory referrals, field inspections and stakeholder engagement to ensure compliance.

You will collaborate with developers, consultants, councils and internal teams to drive sustainable regional growth and protect vital rural water infrastructure.

Qualifications

  • Strong report writing and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of GIS and CRM platforms is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor subdivision progress, compliance obligations and risks with accurate records.
  • Build productive relationships with developers, consultants, councils and government authorities.
  • Provide advice on irrigation and drainage requirements for subdivisions and developments.
  • Investigate development proposals and prepare reports, referrals and condition letters.
  • Coordinate responses to support planning and development approval processes.
  • Conduct asset location investigations, easement enquiries and field inspections, including acceptance of completed works.
  • Prepare and coordinate annual reports relating to properties excised from Rural Irrigation Districts.

Job description

Working within our Rural Services team, you'll investigate irrigation and drainage requirements for subdivisions and developments across Lower Murray Water's rural service area. You'll support planning and development activities through technical assessments, statutory referrals, field inspections and stakeholder engagement while ensuring compliance with legislative and organisational requirements.

Working collaboratively with developers, consultants, councils and internal stakeholders, you'll contribute to sustainable development outcomes while helping protect and manage critical rural water infrastructure.

What You'll Be Doing

Monitoring subdivision progress, compliance obligations and associated risks while maintaining accurate records and documentation.

Building productive relationships with developers, consultants, councils and government authorities.

Providing advice on irrigation and drainage requirements for subdivisions and developments.

Investigating development proposals and prepare reports, referrals and condition letters

Coordinate responses to support planning and development approval processes

Conducting asset location investigations, easement enquiries and field inspections, including acceptance of completed works.

Preparing and coordinating annual reports relating to properties excised from Rural Irrigation Districts.

About You

You are a proactive and detail-oriented person who enjoys solving problems, building strong stakeholder relationships and contributing to projects that support regional growth and sustainable water management.

You'll bring strong communication skills, sound technical judgement and the ability to work effectively across a range of development, planning and customer service activities.

The ability to build productive relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.

Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.

An understanding of the Victorian water entitlement framework (desirable).

Experience in the rural water, irrigation, civil construction, planning or development sectors.

Strong report writing and communication skills.

Sound knowledge of engineering principles and development approval processes.

Experience using business systems such as GIS and CRM platforms.

Experience interpreting and applying legislation, regulations, policies and procedures.
