Job summary

Central Highlands Water is seeking a Technical Officer to support the performance and reliability of water distribution and sewer assets in the Ballarat region. You will undertake asset inspections, condition assessments and coordinate maintenance activities to ensure safe, reliable and compliant services while contributing to asset management planning and risk management.

• Relevant qualifications (Engineering, Science, Project Management etc.) and/or several years’ experience in the Water Industry or other relevant experience such as mining and resources, commercial construction.
• Demonstrated water and sewer network (or similar) operations ability with the focus on field based preventative maintenance works and performance reporting.
• Sound understanding of asset management.
• Sound understanding of minor works delivery and document control.
• Demonstrated experience with safety and environmental management.

The opportunity

This role is responsible for supporting the management, maintenance, and performance of Central Highlands Water's water distribution and sewer collection assets. The position undertakes asset inspections, condition assessments, and investigations, coordinates maintenance and renewal works, and contributes to asset management planning and risk management activities. Working closely with operational teams, contractors, and stakeholders, the role helps ensure the delivery of safe, reliable, compliant, and cost-effective water and wastewater services while supporting continuous improvement and long-term asset performance.
