Job summary

TAFE NSW is seeking a Technical Officer Laboratory at Griffith Campus to support growing laboratory operations. The role is temporary, part-time (7 hours per week across 36 weeks per year) and focused on preparing labs, assisting during practical sessions, and maintaining equipment and inventory.

You will work closely with teachers to ensure quality practical training, uphold safety and compliance standards, and support continuous improvement in laboratory processes within the NSW network.

Location: Griffith Campus
Temporary Part Time Part Year (7 hours per week for 36 weeks per year) until 30 June 2027

$91,081 - $100,536 salary package - includes base salary ($80,246 - $88,576), plus employer’s contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading (paid pro- ra)

About the role

Join TAFE NSW as a Technical Officer supporting our growing laboratory operations at Griffith Campus. Due to increased enrolments and business growth within the laboratory training area, we're seeking a hands-on laboratory professional to provide technical support that enables high-quality practical training delivery. Working closely with teachers, you'll prepare laboratories for classes, assist during practical sessions, maintain equipment, manage consumables and inventory, and help ensure laboratory operations meet quality and compliance requirements.

This temporary part-time opportunity is based at Griffith Campus and offers exceptional flexibility, with 7 hours per week across 36 weeks per year. Working days and hours can be negotiated to align with campus delivery requirements and the successful candidate's availability. You'll join a highly supportive and inclusive team that collaborates across multiple locations throughout NSW, while playing a key role in supporting the continued growth of our science programs.

About you

You are an experienced laboratory professional with qualifications in a science-related field or current experience working in a fully functioning laboratory environment. You have strong practical laboratory skills, including conducting laboratory tests and sample preparation, maintaining equipment, monitoring inventory levels and supporting quality control processes. You understand the importance of compliance, documentation and workplace health and safety within a laboratory setting and take pride in maintaining a clean, organised and professional work environment.

You enjoy working collaboratively and are confident providing technical support to teachers and students in practical learning environments. Experience developing, reviewing or updating laboratory procedures would be highly regarded, as would the ability to contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
