Job summary

City of Mandurah is seeking a technically skilled Construction Officer to support the in‑house civil construction program. You will assist the Construction Management team from preplanning through to closeout, ensuring safety, financial discipline, risk control, and effective program management across multiple projects.

The role requires a Diploma in Civil Engineering/Construction or equivalent, at least five years of civil construction experience, and strong abilities in coordination,

Qualifications

  • Diploma of Civil Engineering / Construction or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years of civil construction experience.
  • Experience in contract/contractor management and administration and project management.
  • Effective coordination, organisational, time management, interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise, organise and control resources in civil construction.
  • Strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and knowledge of Technology One (desirable).

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical and operational support to the Construction Management team throughout the lifecycle of projects.
  • Coordinate approvals, scheduling, inspections and auditing within the City’s civil construction road resurfacing program.
  • Assess and issue permits to work, prepare cost estimates and issue work package documentation to external contractors, suppliers and resources.

The opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual with astructured and proactive approach to support the delivery of theCity’s in-house annual civil construction program.

As the Technical Officer – Construction, you will be responsiblefor providing technical and operational support to the ConstructionManagement team throughout the lifecycle of projects spanning preplanning, implementation and close out, ensuring best practice withsafety, financial, risk, Stakeholder, contract, procurement,administrative, and program management, including managingcoordination of approvals, scheduling, supervision, Inspections andauditing within the City’s civil construction road resurfacingprogram.

Assessing and issuing permits to work, preparing cost estimates,and of issuing of work package documentation to externalcontractors, suppliers and resources are prevalent to the role.

To be successful in this role, you will have:
  • Diploma of Civil Engineering / Construction orequivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years of civil construction experience.
  • Experience in contract/contractor management andadministration and project management.
  • Effective coordination, organisational, time management,interpersonal and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience and ability to supervise, organiseand control resources applicable to civil construction.
  • Strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office systems and packages andknowledge of Technology One software (desirable).
