Job summary

City of Mandurah is seeking a Project Manager Design and Construction to lead the in-house civil capital works program, from concept through to ready-for-construction documentation, reporting to the Manager Technical Services.

You will coordinate engineering, design, survey and construction teams, manage budgets and risks, and ensure compliant delivery of key projects within the Industrial Agreement framework.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level degree in Engineering or Construction or equivalent.
• Recognition by Engineers Australia as a professional Engineer.
• Minimum of five years of relevant experience in civil/infrastructure projects.
• Strong understanding of contracts, contract law and project management principles.
• Experience managing the project management process from client brief to handover.
• Knowledge of civil construction methods, services, and equipment.
• Familiarity with civil approval processes, regulatory authorities, codes and regulations.
• Current unrestricted 'C' class driver’s licence.

Responsibilities

• Provide project management services to deliver capital works on time and within budget.
• Facilitate multidisciplinary teams and advise on strategic issues.

The opportunity

We are in the market for a highly skilled and motivated ProjectManager Design and Construction to manage the City’s in-houseannual civil capital works projects and provide project managementservices.

Reporting to the Manager Technical Services, this role will beresponsible for managing civil projects, including:

• Assisting the Coordinators for Engineering Services, DesignServices, Survey Services and City Construction to organise thedesign process from concept schematic drawings through toready-for-construction documentation
• Providing quality infrastructure project managementservices to the organisation, including timely and budgetsensitive delivery of key capital works and investigationprojects
• Effectively managing capital investment works projects byfacilitating multi-disciplinary teams and providing advice onstrategic commercial and project issues
• Actively managing project and contractual risks andcompliance, and preparing project risk registers with clearmitigation plans
• Facilitating the procurement and contract awarding process;and
• Ensuring programmed targets and budgets are met.

To be successful in this role, you willneed:

• A degree qualification in a relevant discipline (e.g.Engineering or Construction)
• Recognition by The Institution of Engineers Australia as aprofessional Engineer
• A minimum five (5) years of relevant experience
• Comprehensive knowledge of contracts, contract law andproject management principles
• Thorough knowledge of the project management process fromclient brief to project hand over.
• Sound current knowledge of civil constructionmethods/techniques, utilities, all services and equipment
• Sound knowledge of the civil approval process, regulatoryauthorities, procedures, codes and regulations
• Current unrestricted ‘C’ class national driver’slicence.
