Job summary

Nine is seeking an experienced senior engineering leader to mentor a small team and drive high-quality AI-powered software in a hybrid work environment in Australia. You will own architecture, oversee production stability, and guide delivery across GCP/AWS platforms.

Invitees should have 7+ years in software engineering, 2+ years in leadership, strong Python skills, and experience with CI/CD and IaC. Docker/Kubernetes and Terraform experience are a bonus.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of commercial software engineering experience, shipping and operating production systems.
• 2+ years in technical leadership or engineering management, mentoring engineers.
• Strong Python programming skills; Go familiarity is a plus.
• Experience designing and building backend systems and APIs; solid architecture grounding.
• Hands-on experience with GCP and/or AWS cloud platforms.
• Proficiency with CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or OpenTofu or similar).
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Mentor and grow a small engineering team; foster a culture of technical craft and continuous learning.
• Set software quality standards through CI/CD, testing, and design reviews.
• Own technical architecture for AI-powered systems on GCP/AWS with scalable, maintainable design.
• Maintain production operations, monitoring, and incident management for high-availability AI apps.
• Improve Agile/Scrum workflows, remove blockers, and ensure high-quality software delivery.
