Switch is a multi-award-winning digital experience and technology agency. We're looking to hire a Technical Lead into our Mattaki SaaS Platform team (www.mattaki.com).
The Role at Mattaki
It’s an exciting time at Mattaki with growth locally and internationally and we need a hands-on Technical Lead to own the engineering of Mattaki and drive our feature roadmap.
Mattaki is Switch's automotive SaaS platform. It powers the Mattaki app and a large network of dealership websites for major automotive brands throughout Australia, New Zealand and Canada. The platform is live, growing and commercially important.
You'll work across the front end and back end, the cloud infrastructure and the release pipeline. You'll unblock feature enhancements for our customers today, while planning and leading the incremental modernisation of the platform without stopping delivery. You'll also lead and mentor our developers, and give the Product Owner and team the technical direction they need to make good decisions.
What You'll Do
Deliver the Product
- Build and ship features across the full stack of the Mattaki app and our dealership websites, front end and back end
- Help priortise and deliver from our backlog of feature enhancements
- Own technical quality: review code and designs, set standards, and make sure what ships is secure and maintainable
- Investigate, document and resolve production issues and outages, including occasionally out of hours
Run the Platform
- Own our AWS environment: EC2, load balancing, CloudFront, S3 and security configuration
- Maintain and improve build and release pipelines, running legacy and modern .NET side by side during the migration
- Look for practical ways to use AI, both in the product and in how the team builds and tests it
Lead the team
- Lead, mentor and unblock our developers, adapting your approach to each person's experience
- Work closely with the Product Owner on priorities, estimates and trade-offs, and fill technical gaps in their thinking
- Give honest estimates and flag risks early rather than over-promise
- Keep technical documentation current so knowledge doesn't sit with one person
Skills and Experience
- 7+ years as a full-stack developer, including 2+ years leading or mentoring other developers
- Strong C# and SQL, with hands-on experience maintaining .NET Framework 4.x applications (Web Forms, MVC, Web API 2) on IIS and Windows Server
- Proven experience migrating a production application from .NET Framework to modern .NET / ASP.NET Core, incrementally and without halting delivery
- Practical AWS experience: EC2, load balancing, CloudFront, S3 and security configuration
- Designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines; TeamCity and Octopus Deploy highly regarded
- Writing secure code by default (OWASP Top 10: XSS, SQL injection and similar) and keeping technical debt under control
- Able to turn a technical problem into a clear business case and roadmap
- Migrating Vue 2 to Vue 3
- Replacing Web Forms with Razor Pages, MVC or an API-backed SPA
- Experience with GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps or AWS CodeDeploy
- Node.js and Linux
- CMS platforms and multi-site web builds
- Working knowledge of Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager and technical SEO
- Automotive, SaaS or agency background
How You Work
- You see the whole picture. You can set a vision for where the product should go technically, then break it into steps the team can ship.
- You're resourceful. You find solutions, not reasons something can't be done.
- You lead by teaching. You share knowledge freely and stay patient when supporting others.
- You're open. You welcome ideas, discussion and feedback from anyone on the team.
- You're honest about time. You manage your time well, estimate realistically and don't over-promise.
- You choose quality. You put security and maintainability ahead of shortcuts.
- You communicate clearly. Your writing and speaking work for developers and non-technical stakeholders alike.
- You own outcomes. You're accountable for what you and your team deliver.
