Job summary

RB Sellars, an Australian-owned Geelong brand, is seeking a Technical Designer/Product Developer to ensure womenswear meets RB Sellars standards. Based at North Geelong Federal Mills Office, you’ll collaborate with senior designers and learn from industry professionals.

You will develop tech packs, assess sample quality, lead fit sessions, and liaise with suppliers to resolve fabric and care label questions. Join a values-led team focused on community and innovation.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3+ years’ experience as a garment development technologist and/or pattern making.
• Strong knowledge of garment construction, fabrics, and construction techniques.
• Familiarity with AS/NZ, Arpansa and quality assurance standards.

Responsibilities

• Develop and finalize tech packs and product specifications.
• Assess and measure incoming fit and supplier samples.
• Lead fit sessions.
• Communicate changes and approvals on samples with next submissions.
• Maintain block fits for key products.
• Ensure critical path timelines are met and issues resolved.
• Liaise with manufacturers and suppliers to resolve fabric and style queries.

The Opportunity

Our Technical Designer/Product Developer works with our designers and is responsible for ensuring all garment and fabrications for womenswear meet RB Sellars standards.

The role is based at our North Geelong Federal Mills Office, in our custom-designed creative space. You will work with a number of highly experienced industry professionals, so if you are keen to work with and learn from the best, this is the role for you. The role is now open as our wonderful colleague has had to relocate overseas unexpectedly for family reasons.

Responsibilities:

Working closely with the designersthe successful applicant will;

• develop and complete all technical aspects of product tech packs and specifications


• assess & measure all incoming fit & PP supplier samples


• lead fit sessions


• communicate changes, approvals on samples & spec with instructions for next submissions


• establish and maintain block fits for key products


• ensure the ensure critical path time-lines are met and any roadblocks identified and resolved.


• complete reviews and testing of fabrics, components, patterns and measurements ensuring all products are fit for purpose and meet the RB Sellars quality standards


• liaise with manufacturers and suppliers to resolve fabric and style queries, and ensure the accuracy or care labels and information.

Skills & Experience:

You bring:

• Minimum 3+ years’ experience as a garment development (technologist) and/or pattern making - qualifications preferred


• Sound knowledge of garment construction process, fabric types and relevant construction techniques


• Familiarity with AS/NZ, Arpansa and quality assurance & standards


• A proven track record of working with suppliers at source
