Job summary

TAFE NSW's Agribusiness team at the Primary Industries Centre in North Wagga Wagga is seeking a Technical Assistant (Farm Hand). This permanent full-time position blends hands-on animal care, livestock operations and educational support to help deliver practical learning for students across programs, short courses and training activities.

You will work outdoors, care for livestock, operate equipment and support teachers while maintaining high welfare, safety and customer service.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Agriculture or equivalent with livestock focus.
• Experience in daily animal care and welfare.
• Driver’s licence and machinery handling knowledge.

About the role

Join TAFE NSW's Agribusiness team at the Primary Industries Centre in North Wagga Wagga as a Technical Assistant (Farm Hand), where no two days are the same. This permanent full-time role combines hands-on animal care, agricultural operations and educational support, helping deliver practical learning experiences for students across a range of programs, short courses and training activities. You'll play an important role in preparing classes, supporting demonstrations, maintaining agricultural resources and ensuring the welfare of animals used for training purposes.

Working within a highly supportive and collaborative team, you'll enjoy a varied outdoor role that changes week to week. From caring for livestock and operating equipment to assisting teachers and supporting campus operations, you'll be part of a close-knit group that takes pride in supporting one another and maintaining high standards of animal welfare, safety and customer service.

About you

You're a practical, hands-on professional who thrives in a dynamic agricultural environment. With experience in animal care, livestock operations and agricultural equipment, you enjoy working both independently and as part of a team. Adaptable and reliable, you're comfortable responding to changing priorities and take pride in contributing to the success of students, staff and campus operations.

To be successful, you'll bring a Certificate III in Agriculture (Livestock and Cropping), Animal Care, or equivalent skills and knowledge, supported by at least five years of industry experience. You'll also hold a current driver's licence and have experience in daily animal care and welfare, agricultural tasks and equipment maintenance. Relevant machinery licences, a first aid certificate, and higher-level agricultural qualifications or licences such as a forklift or HR truck licence will be highly regarded, but are not essential. You'll also be willing to travel across campuses and regional locations when required.
