Job summary

HOBAN Recruitment is proud to partner with a leading Federal Government agency to recruit an experienced APS6 Technical Advisory Officer based in Parramatta. This role provides specialist technical, operational and advisory support on complex cases to deliver high-quality outcomes within a nationally significant program.

Working in a specialised advisory team, you will guide decision-making, apply legislation and policy, and collaborate with internal stakeholders, partners and service providers

This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled professional to provide specialist technical, operational and advisory support in relation to complex cases, helping deliver high-quality outcomes within a nationally significant program.

Working within a specialised advisory team, you will provide expert guidance on complex and sensitive matters, support decision‑making processes, and contribute to the consistent application of legislation, policy and operational frameworks. You will work closely with internal stakeholders, partners and service providers while playing an important role in building capability across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide specialist technical and operational advice on complex and sensitive matters.
• Deliver subject matter expertise and coaching to support consistent decision-making and quality outcomes.
• Manage challenging stakeholder interactions and sensitive funding‑related discussions.
• Review, analyse and resolve complex issues through sound judgement and evidence‑based recommendations.
• Liaise with stakeholders, delegates, partners and providers to support successful outcomes.
• Prepare high-quality written advice, case documentation and records.
• Contribute to policy development, strategic initiatives and continuous improvement activities.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

• Experience providing technical, clinical, policy or operational advice in a complex environment.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities with the ability to manage sensitive matters.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement, negotiation and communication skills.
• The ability to interpret and apply legislation, policy and operational guidelines.
• Experience coaching, mentoring or supporting the capability development of others.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities under limited direction.
