As an APS6-level Design Strategist, you will lead strategic projects, develop governance and reporting, conduct complex research, prepare executive materials, and engage senior stakeholders to deliver meaningful outcomes for Australians.

HOBAN Recruitment is seeking an experienced and motivated APS6 level Design Strategist to support a high-profile Australian Government agency located in Surry Hills NSW. This is an exciting opportunity for a strategic thinker who can lead complex initiatives, deliver evidence-based insights, and contribute to programs that have a meaningful impact on Australians.
Working within a collaborative and fast-paced environment, you will play a key role in strategic planning, project delivery, policy development, research, stakeholder engagement and organisational improvement initiatives. The role requires strong analytical capability, sound judgement, and the ability to manage competing priorities while delivering high-quality outcomes.

About the Role

As an APS6 level Design Strategist, you will:

  • Lead and coordinate strategic projects, programs and initiatives from planning through to delivery.
  • Develop and manage project plans, schedules, governance documentation and reporting activities.
  • Conduct complex research, investigations and analysis to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Prepare high-quality reports, executive briefs, business cases, discussion papers and corporate documentation.
  • Identify, assess and manage project risks, issues and opportunities.
  • Provide specialist advice and strategic recommendations to senior stakeholders.
  • Support policy development, workforce planning and organisational improvement initiatives.
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Contribute to procurement, contract management and project quality assurance activities.
  • Work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams to achieve strategic outcomes.
  • Competitive pay rate of $60.26per hour, including casual loading, providing you with financial stability and recognition for your expertise.

About You

To be successful, you will demonstrate:

  • Experience working in strategy, policy, program or project management environments.
  • Strong analytical and research skills with the ability to assess complex information and develop evidence-based recommendations.
  • Exceptional written communication skills, including preparation of executive-level documentation.
  • Proven stakeholder engagement and relationship management capabilities.
  • The ability to work autonomously, exercise sound judgement and manage competing priorities.
  • Experience delivering outcomes within complex and evolving environments.
  • Strong organisational skills with a focus on quality, accuracy and continuous improvement.
  • Experience within government, disability, health or human services sectors will be highly regarded.
  • Knowledge of strategic planning, workforce planning, procurement or contract management principles is desirable.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in public policy, business, strategy, project management, public administration or a related discipline, and/or a minimum of three years' experience in a policy, strategy or related role.
