Job summary

Squiz is seeking an Engineering Tech Lead to own the Discovery team's technical direction, shaping scalable, secure cloud systems and cost-conscious architectures while advancing generative AI capabilities.

You will collaborate with the Engineering Manager, design event-driven distributed systems on AWS, implement DevSecOps, and mentor engineers as you write robust Node.js/TypeScript backends for scalable delivery.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on experience building, scaling, and maintaining complex distributed systems in production.
• Deep production experience with cloud-native AWS environments, serverless architectures and containerized workloads.
• Proven capability in modern DevSecOps practices and CI/CD automation.
• Strong system design skills, caching strategies, database optimization, and distributed debugging.
• Experience evaluating and implementing Generative AI workflows (RAG) with cost/security considerations.
• Advanced programming skills in Node.js and TypeScript.
• Comfort with iterative agile environments (Scrum/Kanban).

Responsibilities

• Take complete technical ownership of the Discovery team's services, ensuring scalable, highly available pipelines.
• Design resilient distributed systems with event-driven architectures and robust fault tolerance.
• Champion DevSecOps practices with automated security scanning and IAM controls.
• Own and optimize CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure reproducibility.
• Act as FinOps guardian for AWS spend across compute, storage, and LLM usage.
• Provide technical steering for Generative AI and RAG architectures using AWS Bedrock when appropriate.
• Collaborate with Engineering Manager and stakeholders to translate concepts into realistic user stories and estimates.
• Write clean backend services in Node.js/TypeScript on AWS and conduct thorough code reviews.
