Job summary

Singleton Council is seeking an experienced Team Leader Roads to join our Civil Operations team. You will lead road construction and maintenance projects, mentor staff, coordinate resources and drive safe, compliant delivery across the network that keeps our community connected and moving.

This permanent, full-time role offers a dynamic mix of leadership, field supervision and strategic planning, with a 38-hour week and an on-call roster.

Qualifications

• Certificate IV in Civil Construction (Road Construction and Maintenance) or equivalent qualifications and/or experience.
• Experience in civil construction, especially road construction and maintenance (sealed and unsealed).
• Experience overseeing worksites, giving direction and coordinating major projects.
• Proven ability to lead, coach and support staff to meet targets efficiently.
• Experience using technology to manage works, projects and reporting.
• Understanding and application of Work Health and Safety practices.
• Current C Class Driver Licence (minimum), HR Licence or willingness to obtain.
• White Card (General Construction Induction).
• Accreditation for Traffic Control Plans is desirable.
• Experience operating civil construction plant and equipment is desirable.

Singleton Council is seeking an experienced and motivated Team Leader Roads to join our Civil Operations team.

This role offers a dynamic mix of leadership, project coordination, field-based supervision and strategic planning. You'll lead the delivery of road construction and maintenance projects, mentor and develop team members, coordinate resources, respond to community needs and collaborate with other operational teams to deliver critical infrastructure outcomes. Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and supervise road maintenance crews.
• Coordinate labour, plant and resources to deliver works programs and projects.
• Lead a positive, safe and high-performing team culture by coaching, mentoring and supporting employees to achieve their full potential and team objectives.
• Monitor and manage workplace health and safety, environmental and quality requirements.
• Collaborate with other operational team leaders to deliver major maintenance and capital works projects.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Certificate IV in Civil Construction (Road Construction and Maintenance) or equivalent qualifications and/or experience.
• Experience in civil construction specifically the construction and maintenance of roads, both sealed and unsealed
• Demonstrated experience overseeing worksites, providing direction and coordinating the construction of major civil infrastructure and maintenance works and projects
• Proven experience and demonstrated ability to lead, coach and support staff to achieve work targets efficiently and effectively
• Experience using technology and software systems to manage works, projects and reporting.
• Sound understanding and application of Work Health and Safety practices.
• Current C Class Driver Licence (minimum).
• HR Driver Licence or willingness to obtain.
• White Card (General Construction Induction).
• Implement Traffic Control Plans accreditation is desirable.
• Experience operating civil construction plant and equipment is desirable.

This position is offered on a Permanent, Full-time basis working 38 hours per week.The team currently work a 9-day fortnight and a rotating on-call roster.

Remuneration package for this position is based on Grade 10 of Council's Salary System Protocol which equates to a base salary of $85,951.00 - $96,685.00 per annum plus superannuation. This position attracts the benefit of commuter use of a fit-for-purpose vehicle.
