Job summary

Department of Justice and Community Safety VIC – Melbourne VIC is seeking a Team Leader to guide a team that helps people access counselling and therapeutic services through redress schemes. You will provide safe, consistent and respectful support to participants and ensure accurate records and reports.

You will have a tertiary qualification in social services, business or public administration, plus proven team leadership in a complex service system.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in social services, business or public administration is highly desirable.
• Experience leading a team in a complex service system.
• Experience in victim-centred service with knowledge of sexual abuse or mental health.
• Public service experience in a highly regulated work setting.
• Resilience and empathy when supporting staff through challenging work.

Responsibilities

• provide clear guidance and support to staff who help scheme participants
• lead accurate records and reports about service delivery
• check that staff follow laws, policies and approved processes
• identify issues and develop practical ways to improve services
• build positive working relationships and support priorities across the department.
