Job summary

Waverley Council is seeking a Team Leader, Multi Skilled - Civil in Sydney to lead a dedicated civil team in daily maintenance and construction tasks. The role combines hands-on supervision with technical guidance to ensure safe, efficient outcomes for public infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Leadership experience: provide direction and performance management for a civil team.
• Ability to handle manual tasks and maintain physical fitness.
• Willingness to obtain HR Driver’s Licence within six months.
• Strong interpersonal skills for staff and public interactions.
• Proven ability to mentor, motivate and lead staff.
• Proficient with Outlook and Microsoft Office.
• Current WHS General Construction Induction (White Card) or willing to obtain on commencement.

Responsibilities

• Lead, supervise and support a team of multi-skilled civil staff in daily civil maintenance and construction works.
• Plan and allocate resources, plant, equipment and materials for efficient, safe delivery.
• Oversee civil works including roads, footpaths, kerbs, drainage, paving and related infrastructure.
• Monitor quality, productivity and compliance with Council standards, procedures, WHS and environmental requirements.
• Provide hands-on technical guidance and resolve operational issues as they arise.
• Coordinate works with internal teams, contractors and stakeholders to ensure timely delivery and high standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, supervise and support a team of multi-skilled civil staff in the delivery of day-to-day civil maintenance and construction works.
• Plan, coordinate and allocate resources, plant, equipment and materials to ensure works are delivered efficiently and safely
• Undertake and oversee civil works including roads, footpaths, kerbs, draining, paving and other public infrastructure
• Monitor work quality, productivity and compliance with Council standards, procedures, WHS and environmental requirements
• Provide hands on technical guidance and support to the team, resolving operational issues as they arise.
• Coordinate works with internal teams, contractors and stakeholders to ensure projectsand maintenance activities are delivered on time and to a high standard

About You

• Demonstrated skills and experience in providing leadership, direction, instructions, guidance and performance management.
• Must be physically fit and able to apply manual handling techniques.
• HR Drivers Licence or willing to obtain within six months of employment.
• High level interpersonal skills and the ability to deal with staff and members of the public.
• Demonstrated experience and ability to lead, mentor and motivate staff.
• Competent in using computer applications, including Outlook and Microsoft Office.
• Current WHS General Construction Induction (white) card, or willing to obtain on commencement of employment.
