Job summary

Waverley Council is seeking a hands-on Team Leader, Multi Skilled - Civil to oversee a team delivering day-to-day civil maintenance and construction works. This permanent full-time role runs 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with 6 AM to 3 PM shift, and includes on-site parking and public transport access.

You will plan resources, supervise staff, ensure safety and quality, and provide technical guidance while working collaboratively with internal teams and contractors to meet council

Qualifications

• Experience leading multi-skilled civil teams in a maintenance environment.
• Ability to plan resources and supervise works safely.
• Strong communication and stakeholder liaison skills.
• Current WHS General Construction Induction (White Card) or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Lead, supervise and support a team of multi-skilled civil staff in the delivery of day-to-day civil maintenance and construction works.
• Plan, coordinate and allocate resources, plant, equipment and materials to ensure works are delivered efficiently and safely
• Oversee civil works including roads, footpaths, kerbs, draining, paving and other public infrastructure
• Monitor work quality, productivity and compliance with Council standards, procedures, WHS and environmental requirements
• Provide hands on technical guidance and support to the team, resolving operational issues as they arise.
• Coordinate works with internal teams, contractors and stakeholders to ensure projects and maintenance activities are delivered on time and to a high standard

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, supervise and support a team of multi-skilled civil staff in the delivery of day-to-day civil maintenance and construction works.
• Plan, coordinate and allocate resources, plant, equipment and materials to ensure works are delivered efficiently and safely
• Undertake and oversee civil works including roads, footpaths, kerbs, draining, paving and other public infrastructure
• Monitor work quality, productivity and compliance with Council standards, procedures, WHS and environmental requirements
• Provide hands on technical guidance and support to the team, resolving operational issues as they arise.
• Coordinate works with internal teams, contractors and stakeholders to ensure projectsand maintenance activities are delivered on time and to a high standard

About You

• Demonstrated skills and experience in providing leadership, direction, instructions, guidance and performance management.
• Must be physically fit and able to apply manual handling techniques.
• HR Drivers Licence or willing to obtain within six months of employment.
• High level interpersonal skills and the ability to deal with staff and members of the public.
• Demonstrated experience and ability to lead, mentor and motivate staff.
• Competent in using computer applications, including Outlook and Microsoft Office.
• Current WHS General Construction Induction (white) card, or willing to obtain on commencement of employment.
