Job summary

Darebin City Council is seeking an experienced library professional to lead the Collections Team and guide Darebin Libraries’ print and digital collections, while providing branch leadership and facility management across one to two locations. The role sits on the Library Leadership Team, shaping services with a data-driven, customer‑focused approach.

You will manage collection development for all ages, oversee shelf‑ready processes, and support staff through coaching and development, including

• Provide branch leadership to ensure safe, accessible and responsive library services and welcoming facilities.
• Drive innovation in collection management through streamlined shelf‑ready processes for print and digital collections.
• Manage and develop staff performance with coaching and professional development opportunities.
• Contribute to frontline service delivery through rostered shifts including one evening per week and at least one Saturday and Sunday every eight weeks.

Job description

35 hour week, (9 day fortnight). Hours include one evening shift per week and one rostered Saturday and Sunday shift in each 8-week cycle.

Band 6 role: $ 99,917.48 per year.

We have an exciting leadership opportunity for an experienced library professional to shape and enhance Darebin Libraries' collections, facilities and services. As a member of the Library Leadership Team, you will lead the Collections Team in the development and management of innovative print and digital collections, while also providing branch leadership and facility management for one to two library locations.

To do this you will:

• Lead, inspire and develop a high-performing team to deliver innovative, customer-focused collection services, including collection development for all age groups, interlibrary loans, home libraryservicesand local history collections.
• Provide branch leadership to support the consistent delivery of inclusive,accessibleand responsive library services, ensuring safe and efficient operations, welcoming facilities, andstrong communicationand teamwork across the service.
• Drive innovation in collection management by leading the review,developmentand implementation of streamlined shelf-ready processes for the acquisition,cataloguingand management of print and digital collections.
• Manage and support staff performance through regular feedback,coachingand professional development opportunities, while addressing performance concerns and implementing improvement strategies whererequired.
• Contribute to frontline service delivery through rostered customer service shifts across Darebin Libraries branches, including one evening shift per week and a minimum of one Saturday and one Sunday shift every eight weeks.
