Justice and Community Safety Directorate ACT in Canberra is seeking a Team Leader for the Intelligence Unit within ACT Corrective Services ACTCS. The role focuses on intelligence-led, risk-based analysis and high-level research to inform decision-making.

You will collect, collate, and analyse information to produce actionable intelligence, prepare complex written reports, and deliver oral briefings to a range of stakeholders. The position offers flexible options including hybrid working.

Qualifications

  • Experience working in an intelligence environment will be highly regarded.
  • The successful applicant will be an Australian citizen and possess, or acquire and maintain a Negative Vetting Level 1 (NV1) security clearance sponsorship by ACT Government.
  • The successful candidate will be required to undergo a criminal record check.
  • Prior to commencing this role, a current WWVP registration is required.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to an intelligence-led, risk-based intelligence capability for ACTCS through sound research and high-level analysis.
  • Proactively collect, collate and analyse information to produce intelligence that informs decision-making.
  • Prepare complex written intelligence reports and deliver oral briefings to a range of stakeholders.
  • Prepare and deliver intelligence-specific training to ACTCS employees and promote information sharing across the unit.
  • Represent the ACTCS Intelligence Unit in internal and external meetings and forums as required.

Job description

Justice and Community Safety Directorate ACT – Canberra ACT
Details: ACT Corrective Services ACTCS) is looking for a highly motivated and conscientious person to fill the position of Team Leader, Intelligence Unit within the Intelligence Unit.

The successful applicant will contribute to an intelligence-led, risk-based intelligence capability for ACTCS through the conduct of sound research and high-level analysis.

You will also be responsible for proactively collecting, collating and analysing information to produce intelligence that informs and influences decision-making.

In addition, you will apply sound research methodologies into contemporary issues and trends to inform operational outcomes, policy development and organisational strategy and prepare complex written intelligence reports and deliver oral briefings to a range of stakeholders in line with organisational standards and requirements.

Further to this, the successful applicant will prepare and deliver intelligence specific training to employees across ACTCS, foster, model and contribute to an information sharing culture and represent the ACTCS Intelligence Unit in internal and external meetings and forums as required.

Eligibility/Other Requirements:
  • Experience working in an intelligence environment will be highly regarded.
  • The successful applicant must be an Australian citizen and possess, or acquire and maintain a Negative Vetting Level 1 (NV1) security clearance as an eligibility requirement for the position which will be sponsored by the ACT Government. Notes:

This is a temporary position available from 21 December 2026 to 02 February 2029 with the possibility of permanency. Opportunities for flexible working options could include hybrid working, being a combination of working from home, designated office based and FlexiSpace working locations across the ACT, part-time hours, job-sharing, flexible start, and finish times.
