ACT Emergency Services Agency (ESA) is seeking applications to lead the ESA Intelligence Team as Director. You will leverage extensive management experience to guide a multi-disciplinary team responsible for the design and maintenance of business intelligence, spatial and digital platforms that support emergency decision making.

You will direct spatial modelling, GIS, mapping, web applications, SharePoint content, data dashboards and analytics.

  • Ability to manage duties outside normal hours and weekends during emergencies.
  • Eligibility to work in ACT Public Service (citizen, permanent resident or valid visa).

Responsibilities

  • Lead the ESA Intelligence Team in the design and maintenance of BI, spatial and digital platforms for emergency decision making.
  • Oversee spatial modelling, GIS, dashboards, and data analytics; manage partnerships with government stakeholders.
  • Lead the Mapping and Planning Support volunteer group providing location technology support.

Job description

Details: The Emergency Services Agency is seeking applications from highly motivated, experienced, and suitable individuals to lead the ESA Intelligence Team. As the Director, ESA Intelligence you will use your extensive management experience to lead a multi-disciplinary team in the design and maintenance of business intelligence, spatial and digital platforms capability. You will play a pivotal role in achieving ESA’s goal in developing and delivering cutting edge capability that supports business and emergency decision making.

The specialist operational and technical support your team provides to the ESA includes spatial modelling, mapping and Geographic Information Systems (GIS), web applications, SharePoint content, data dashboards and data analytics. You will be required to develop and maintain collaborative partnerships with the relevant stakeholders across government to ensure projects are well supported with the appropriate technical solutions. Further to this, you will lead the Mapping and Planning Support volunteer group who provide location technology support and specialist mapping capabilities for the emergency services.

Eligibility/Other requirements:

  • Extensive experience leading technical specialists in an emergency services organisation would be an advantage.
  • The occupant of this position will be required to undertake part of the duties outside normal business hours and on weekends in response to emergencies as well as assist in management and coordination of volunteers.
  • To be eligible for permanent or temporary employment within the ACT Public Service (ACTPS) you must be an Australian citizen, a permanent resident or hold a valid work visa.
  • If an officer no longer holds a visa that permits them to work in Australia, their employment with the ACT Public Service (ACTPS) will be terminated.
  • This position does not require a pre-employment medical
  • This position does require a Working with Vulnerable People Check.

Notes: This is a temporary position available from 12 October 2026 until 9 July. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only. A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months.
