Job summary

Tassal Group in Huonville is seeking a Team Leader for the Afternoon Cleaning Crew to drive safety, quality and operational performance in a fast-paced food production environment.

The role leads a team of around 13, focusing on hygiene standards, continuous improvement, and effective communication with stakeholders across the business. A hands-on leader with coaching skills is essential.

About The Role

We are seeking an experienced Team Leader to lead our Afternoon Cleaning Crew at our Huonville processing facility. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for ensuring the highest standards of hygiene, safety and operational performance while fostering a positive and engaged team culture.

Leading a team of approximately 13 crew members, you will oversee afternoon shift cleaning operations and ensure all safety, quality, compliance and hygiene requirements are achieved. This role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact through strong leadership, continuous improvement and operational excellence within a fast-paced food production environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, coordinate and support the afternoon shift cleaning team to achieve hygiene and operational targets.
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality and food hygiene standards across the facility.
• Complete safety and quality reporting as required to maintain a compliant workplace.
• Communicate effectively with team members and key stakeholders across the business.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the hygiene program and operational performance.
• Identify and implement efficiencies across cleaning processes, WHS and quality systems.
• Support a positive team culture through coaching, leadership and ongoing development of team members.

About You

• Previous leadership experience with demonstrated supervisory and people management skills.
• Industrial or manufacturing experience, ideally within a food production environment.
• Chemical handling experience and sound knowledge of safe chemical use and storage.
• Strong understanding of food processing, hygiene practices and quality assurance requirements.
• A genuine commitment to workplace safety and the ability to enforce safety standards.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Continuous improvement mindset with the ability to identify opportunities and drive change.
• Self-motivated, organised and capable of leading a high-performing team in a fast-paced environment.
• Be adaptable to rostering changes with limited notice.
