Job summary

The City of Parramatta is seeking a hands-on supervisor to coordinate carpentry, maintenance and improvement works across parks, playgrounds and public spaces in Parramatta. You will lead a trades team, plan work, allocate resources and ensure high‑quality outcomes while maintaining safety standards.

This permanent full‑time role offers a 9‑day fortnight schedule, a competitive salary from $81,327 to $89,563 plus 12% superannuation, and opportunities for growth, training and community impact

Qualifications

• Minimum Certificate III qualification in carpentry, electrical, plumbing, building and construction or landscape construction relevant to role.
• Level 2 playground inspection certificate (AHCPGD311) is required.
• Current NSW Driver’s Licence and Construction industry White Card.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support a team of tradespeople to deliver maintenance, construction and improvement programs across parks and public spaces.
• Plan, coordinate and allocate resources, tasks and workloads to meet service standards.
• Mentor team members, support skill development and foster a safe, inclusive and high‑performing team environment.
• Undertake inspections and oversee work practices to ensure assets are maintained safely and efficiently.

About the role

You will coordinate the day-to-day delivery of carpentry, maintenance and improvement works across Parramatta's parks, playgrounds and public spaces. This hands‑on role combines trade expertise with planning and onsite coordination to help maintain safe, functional and welcoming community spaces

In this role you will:

• Lead and support a team of tradespeople to deliver maintenance, construction and improvement programs across parks and public spaces, ensuring high-quality outcomes.
• Plan, coordinate and allocate resources, tasks and workloads to meet service standards and operational priorities.
• Mentor team members, support skill development and foster a safe, inclusive and high‑performing team environment.
• Undertake inspections and oversee work practices to ensure assets are maintained safely, efficiently and in line with industry and Council standard

We offer a competitive salary from $81,327 to $89,563 plus 12% superannuation.

This position will attract allowances in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award 2026, including the Adverse Working Conditions Allowance where applicable.

About you

• Experience leading, coordinating or mentoring teams in a trades, maintenance or operational environment.
• Practical carpentry, construction or asset maintenance experience, with the ability to plan work, solve problems and deliver quality outcomes.

• The ability to build positive working relationships and support others to achieve their best.

To be considered for this role, you must also meet the essential requirements in the Position Description, including the below Qualifications/Licences:

• Minimum certificate III qualification in carpentry, electrical, plumbing, building and construction and landscape construction relevant to role/area of specialisation.
• Level 2 playground inspection certificate (AHCPGD311)
• Current NSW Driver’s Licence
• Construction industry certificate (White Card)
