Total Remuneration Package: Remuneration package valued at up to $156,253.00. Base salary ranges from $90,177.00 to $137,861.00, plus leave loading and employer's contribution to superannuation. Base salary rates above the minimum are available depending on experience.

Position Information

Merrylands Public School has a current enrolment of 640 students and serves a diverse school community with 95% of students from a language background other than English and 15% with refugee experiences, and 7 Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students. The school has 25 mainstream classes. Our five Special Education Classes comprise of IM, IO, Au support classes and two Multi-categorical classes. Merrylands Public School supports thedevelopment of each individual child, ensuring they have opportunities to achieveacademic growth and personal excellence across the curriculum. Avariety of technology is available to all students in their classrooms includinglaptops, iPads and assistive technology. Students in Special Education Classes also access a range of opportunities to strengthen their social and emotional development. They also access a range of inclusive sport and therapy programs across the year. The school has strong positive partnerships between students, staff, parents/carers and the wider community to promote the best possible outcomes for our students. We work together in an inclusive setting to ensure our students are safe, respectful and responsible.

• Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with disability including autism and moderate intellectual disability.
• Ability to differentiate and deliver individual learning and support plans that respond to the diverse needs of students and foster engagement.
• Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with key stakeholders and build positive relationships with students, staff and a diverse multicultural community.
• Demonstrated capacity to support students with complex behavioural, social and emotional needs.

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
