The Role

Girrawheen SHS is seeking passionate, versatile, and student-centred Secondary Generalist Teachers to join our dedicated team. We offer an exciting opportunity to work in a high-performing school recognised for excellence in teaching and learning. At Girrawheen SHS, we are committed to providing high-quality educational experiences that empower every student to achieve their full potential. In 2022, the school received the WA Education Award for Excellence in Teaching and Learning, and since 2023 has been recognised as a Quality Teaching Strategy (QTS) Lead School, leading the implementation of evidence-based teaching practices across Western Australia.

Suitable applicants may contribute across a range of secondary learning areas, depending on their qualifications, expertise, and the operational needs of the school. Experience teaching, or the capacity to teach, the University Preparation (UniPrep) course would be highly regarded. Applicants should design and deliver engaging, inclusive, and differentiated learning programs that support students with diverse abilities, aspirations, and backgrounds. A strong commitment to creating positive and supportive classroom environments, promoting student engagement and wellbeing, and building effective partnerships with students, families, and colleagues will be highly regarded.

We are seeking educators who are adaptable, collaborative, and committed to continuous improvement. Suitable applicants will ideally use evidence-informed teaching practices and student data to enhance learning outcomes, provide timely and meaningful feedback, and contribute positively to whole-school priorities. They should display strong classroom management, high expectations for student achievement, and a passion for helping young people develop the skills, knowledge, resilience, and confidence needed for success in further study, training, employment, and life.

As a member of our staff, you will join a supportive and collaborative team that values innovation, professional growth, and a shared commitment to ensuring every student can thrive. At Girrawheen SHS, we believe that quality teaching, strong relationships, and collective responsibility are fundamental to achieving outstanding outcomes for students and building pathways to successful futures.
