Job summary

TAFE NSW is seeking outstanding educators to inspire the next generation of Fitting and Machining students. This is a permanent full-time role based at Mount Druitt Campus, with occasional travel within 50km.

As a TAFE NSW Teacher, you will deliver hands-on, practical training, focusing on industry-relevant skills. Note evening classes from 5:30 pm to 9:00 pm two nights per week as part of the weekly timetable.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Engineering Mechanical Trade (Fitting & Machining).
• Certificate IV in Engineering - Fluid Power with experience in the Fluid Power industry.
• Minimum five years post-qualification industry experience relevant to qualifications.
• Evidence of the required teaching qualification to deliver Vocational Education and Training (VET).

Responsibilities

• Deliver hands-on, practical training to Fitting and Machining students.
• Teach evening classes from 5:30 pm to 9:00 pm as part of the weekly timetable.
• Guide and mentor students to build skills, qualifications and employability.

About the role

We are seeking outstanding educators to inspire and mentor the next generation of Fitting and Machining students. This is a permanent full-time opportunity based at Mount Druitt Campus. On occasion travel will be required to campuses within a 50km radius.

As a TAFE NSW Teacher, you will guide and enhance student learning by delivering hands‑on, practical training. Our teaching section focuses on providing high quality, industry relevant training, delivered to a wide range of learners, including school students and those pursuing post trade qualifications. Share your skills and passion for your industry, help students build the skills, qualifications, and employability to support their career goals.

Please note, when required this position will require evening work at least two nights per week. Due to the delivery requirements of the teaching program and the needs of our student cohort, the successful candidate will be required to teach evening classes from 5:30 pm to 9:00 pm as a core component of their regular weekly timetable. These evening classes support flexible study options for students balancing work and other commitments. The remaining hours of this position will be scheduled during standard daytime teaching and related duties.

About You

To be successful in the role, you will:

• Hold appropriate subject knowledge and skills and hold the following qualifications:
  • Certificate III in Engineering Mechanical Trade (Fitting & Machining)
  • Certificate IV in Engineering - Fluid Power, together with experience in the Fluid Power industry.
• Have a minimum of five years post-qualification industry experience relevant to your qualifications, gained no longer than five years previously.
• Hold evidence of the required teaching qualification to deliver Vocational Education and Training (VET). See the candidate support document here for details.
• Be prepared to develop and maintain your VET knowledge and skills as well as your industry currency, and trainer/assessor competence.
