Job summary

TAFE NSW is hiring multiple permanent full-time Carpentry teachers across Northern Beaches, Randwick and Gymea Campuses. The role requires strong carpentry credentials, teaching capability in VET, and at least five years post-qualification industry experience.

The package includes salary plus employer superannuation and leave loading, with a focus on delivering high-quality trades education. Paid to Learn option available for candidates transitioning from industry to teaching, with guaranteed

$111,798 - $132,585 Salary Package: includes salary range $98,499 to $116,813 per annum plus employer's superannuation and annual leave loading (salary offered will be based on experience).

About the role

We’re seeking world-class educators to inspire the next generation of Carpentry students by joining our team of teachers for the following opportunities:

• 1 x permanent full-time – Northern Beaches Campus
• 1 x permanent full-time – Randwick Campus
• 1 x permanent full-time – Gymea Campus

• Have appropriate subject knowledge, skills and vocational qualifications with a minimum level of Certificate III in Carpentry AND Certificate IV in Building and Construction or equivalent.
• Evidence of holding the appropriate teaching qualifications to deliver Vocational Education and Training (see the candidate support document (here) for details) OR a willingness to undertake our full-time 14 week 'Paid to Learn' course.
• Have a minimum of five (5) years post qualification experience relevant to your industry, gained no longer than five (5) years previously.

Highly regarded but not essential:

• Carpentry Contractors Licence
• Experience supervising and mentoring apprentices
• Licensed builder
• Experience delivering training, conducting toolbox talks, or workplace coaching
• Certificate of Proficiency (Carpentry and Joinery)

Paid to Learn

for candidates who do not hold an appropriate VET teaching qualification or equivalent, you have the option to be paid to learn as you transition from industry to teaching with guaranteed work following successful completion of the 14 weeks Training and Assessment course. Those who already hold the appropriate teaching qualification or equivalent are still eligible to apply.
