Job summary

ResMed in Sydney is seeking a Systems Engineer to join the Devices Systems team to help develop the next generation of medical devices. You will translate user, clinical, business, and regulatory needs into system requirements and work with software, electronics, mechanics, and verification teams.

You will maintain traceability, assess design options, support risk management, and contribute to verification and validation activities to ensure safe, effective products for patients worldwide.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level engineering degree or equivalent.
• Foundational understanding of engineering principles and systems thinking.
• Willingness to learn medical device regulations, standards, and quality systems.

Responsibilities

• Translate user, clinical, business, and regulatory needs into system requirements, risk assessments, and technical solutions.
• Create, maintain, and support the traceability of requirements within a requirements management tool.
• Collaborate with software, algorithm, electronics, mechanical, verification, and clinical teams to develop integrated system solutions.
• Evaluate design options and trade-offs, escalating recommendations to senior engineers when needed.
• Work across engineering disciplines to resolve technical issues and support cross‑functional discussions.
• Support demonstration of product performance through evidence-based verification and validation activities.
• Participate in system risk management, including risk analyses and reviews.
• Follow established Systems Engineering processes, suggest improvements, and maintain safe working practices.
