Job summary

Resmed in Sydney is seeking a Software Engineer II to design, develop, and maintain embedded software for medical devices used in diagnosis, monitoring, and treatment.

In an Agile environment you will collaborate with software, hardware, systems, quality, product and clinical teams to deliver reliable software within project timelines and contribute to software architecture, design reviews, and test outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, computer engineering, computer science or related discipline.
• Commercial software application development background.
• Proficiency in C++ and/or Python for application and test software development.
• Knowledge of Agile development environments.
• Understanding of software design, code reviews, debugging, and testing.
• Familiarity with GitHub, Bitbucket, Jira, or Confluence.
• Understanding of CI/CD principles and automated build environments.
• Ability to translate customer and product requirements into technical solutions.
• Clear written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain embedded software applications.
• Deliver automated and manual verification against functional and performance requirements.
• Contribute to software architecture, design reviews, and technical discussions.
• Document software designs, implementation decisions, and test outcomes.
• Troubleshoot and resolve software defects and customer-reported issues.
• Partner with software, hardware, systems, and quality engineering teams.
• Deliver reliable software within agreed project timelines.
• Improve development processes, tools, and engineering practices.
• Balance competing priorities while creating value for stakeholders.
• Take ownership of tasks and occasionally lead smaller workstreams.
