Inlight IT is seeking an engineer with a solid Microsoft infrastructure background and hands-on networking experience to join on-site in Macquarie Park, Sydney. You will work on Windows Server, Active Directory, M365, Azure, FortiGate firewalls, switches and VPNs across multiple client environments.

You will troubleshoot incidents, implement infrastructure projects and document configurations, while collaborating with senior engineers and vendors.

Responsabilidades

• Resolve incidents across Windows Server, AD, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, M365, Entra ID, Exchange Online and Intune.
• Support Hyper-V, VMware and Azure-hosted VMs, networking and infra services.
• Configure and troubleshoot FortiGate firewalls, including policies, NAT, routing and site-to-site VPNs.
• Configure switches with VLAN tagging, trunk ports, access ports and network segmentation; support SD-WAN and multi-site connectivity.
• Diagnose LAN/WAN/internet issues using firewall logs, captures, routing tables and diagnostics.
• Perform maintenance, patching, backup checks and proactive monitoring; support endpoint security.
• Assist senior engineers with design/implementation of infra, cloud and network projects (deployments, upgrades, migrations).
• Investigate root causes, elevate when needed and maintain docs, configs and network diagrams.
• Communicate clearly with clients and coordinate with providers and other teams.

We're looking for an engineer with a solid Microsoft infrastructure background and hands-on networking and firewall experience. The role combines technical support, infrastructure administration and project implementation across multiple client environments. You'll work with Windows infrastructure, Microsoft 365, Azure, firewalls, switches and network connectivity. You'll troubleshoot server issues, investigate VPN failures and configure firewall policies, taking ownership of issues through to resolution. Experienced infrastructure and networking engineers will support you with complex escalations and project delivery. This is an on-site role in Macquarie Park. Applicants must be based in Sydney.

Key responsibilities

Resolve incidents across Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Exchange Online and Intune.

Support Hyper-V, VMware and Azure-hosted virtual machines, networking and infrastructure services.

Configure and troubleshoot FortiGate firewalls, including policies, NAT, static routing and site-to-site IPsec VPNs.

Configure managed switches, including VLAN tagging, trunk ports, access ports and network segmentation, and support SD-WAN and multi-site connectivity.

Diagnose LAN, WAN and internet connectivity issues using firewall logs, packet captures, routing tables and network diagnostic tools.

Perform maintenance, patching, backup checks and proactive monitoring, and support endpoint security.

Assist senior engineers with technical design and implementation of infrastructure, cloud and network projects, including deployments, upgrades and site migrations.

Investigate root causes, elevate when needed and maintain documentation, configuration records and network diagrams.

Communicate clearly with clients and coordinate with internet providers, vendors and other technical teams.

About you

3+ years in IT infrastructure or systems engineering, ideally in an MSP.

Experience in IT infrastructure support or systems administration, with the ability to independently troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure issues.

Strong experience with Windows Server and Active Directory, including troubleshooting DNS, DHCP, Group Policy and authentication issues.

Working knowledge of Microsoft 365, Entra ID and Exchange Online.

Experience with Hyper-V or VMware, and familiarity with backups, monitoring and patch management.

Hands-on experience configuring and administering business-grade firewalls.

Solid knowledge of TCP/IP, subnetting, VLANs, Layer 2 switching, Layer 3 routing, firewall policies, NAT, access control and site-to-site IPsec VPNs.

Experience using network diagnostic tools, logs and packet captures to investigate problems.

A methodical approach to troubleshooting and clear communication with clients and colleagues.
