Job summary

Safran Electronics & Defence Australasia Pty Ltd (SEDA) seeks an experienced Systems Architect to take the technical lead and Design Authority role for a designated optronics product family in Australia. Reporting to the Head of Engineering, you will act as the primary technical reference and interface with the customer.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related discipline.
• Experience in EO/IR, optronics, imaging, or sensing product development programs.
• Experience with MBSE tooling such as CATIA Magic, Rhapsody, or SysML/UML is desirable.
• Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) with Engineers Australia, or pursuing this credential, is desirable.
• Australian citizens eligible to obtain Defence NV1 clearance is required.

Responsibilities

• System architecture definition and function allocation across optical, mechanical, electronics, and software domains.
• Taking products from prototype through to commercially delivered, fielded solutions.
• Managing or directing multidisciplinary engineering teams within a project context.
• Establishing and implementing V&V programs, including ATPs, ATProcs, and formal Defence acceptance activities.
• Producing SAD, SSDD, ICD, and ATPRoc-class engineering documents against customer specifications.
• Leading complex technical reviews with customers and subcontractors.
• Exercising Design Authority or delegated technical authority for a product or product family.
