Job summary

Profectus is seeking experienced Systems Administrators (Linux) to support secure ICT environments for a large Australian Government program. You will design, configure, document, operate and support Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems, collaborating with specialists across a wider team.

The role involves deploying and maintaining RHEL components, documenting baselines, managing VMware, troubleshooting complex faults and contributing to knowledge bases and policy.

Qualifications

• RHCSA certification or related qualification.
• 5+ years in systems administration, Australian Government or Defence experience.
• Proven expertise administering RHEL across development and production.
• Solid understanding of VMware virtualization.
• Ability to communicate effectively with technical peers and leadership; able to work independently.

Job description

Profectus is seeking experienced Systems Administrators (Linux) to support the delivery and sustainment of secure ICT environments across a large program of work within the Australian Government. You will handle the design, configuration, documentation, operation and support of Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems, working alongside specialists across a wider systems team.

What you will be doing

• Deploying, supporting and maintaining RHEL components across physical and virtual infrastructure
• Managing and documenting RHEL configuration to defined baselines
• Managing virtualisation tooling such as VMware and configuring virtual machines that support critical applications
• Troubleshooting complex faults and working with peer teams to reach resolution
• Contributing technical designs and content to knowledge repositories, and input to policy, process and procedure
• Applying ITIL Service Management practice under direction, including CAB participation, implementation of approved changes, and use of service management toolsets
• Providing platform deployment and support to designated activities, which may include planning, out of hours support
• Handling classified information in line with the DSPF and the ISM

What you will need

• RHCSA certification, or a tertiary or vocational qualification in a closely related discipline
• 5+ years in systems administration, Australian Government or Defence experience, or a combination of both
• Proven expertise administering RHEL across development and production environments
• Solid understanding of virtualisation technologies such as VMware
• Ability to communicate effectively with technical peers and frontline IT leadershipAbility to work independently and within integrated Australian Government teams

Nice to have

• ITIL certification
• Storage and backup architecture and management

Clearance and eligibility

• Must be an Australian Citizen
• Must have current AGSVA NV1 clearance
• Current AGSVA NV2 preferred
• Onsite in Canberra, ACT. Some travel may be required
